Dr. Cassie is a graduate of New York Chiropractic College and completed her clinical training at Walter Reed. While there, Dr. Dougherty practiced hospital-based chiropractic, which enabled her to work closely with the nation’s leading medical specialists to provide the most comprehensive and effective care possible for her patients. Furthermore, she received extensive training in reading MRIs of the lumbar spine, which serves her well when treating patients with spinal stenosis and disc herniations, disc bulges, and disc degeneration. While at Walter Reed, Dr. Dougherty rotated through various departments alongside medical students and learned from the best physicians, specialists, and surgeons in the nation. Some of her rotations included: wounded warrior physical and occupational therapy, pelvic floor physical therapy, gastroenterology, prosthetics, orofacial pain, rheumatology, diabetes clinic, neurosurgery, orthopaedic surgery, orthopaedic casting (here she learned how to cast!) EKG training, gait analysis at the gait lab, and inpatient chiropractic and physical therapy. Additionally, she was trained by the PM&R department at Walter Reed, where she learned basic EMG skills, dry needling, acupuncture, traumatic brain injury patient care, active isolated stretching protocols, and witnessed various non-chiropractic pain management techniques. During this rotation, she was also taught Neuro Kinetic Therapy (NKT) by David Weinstock, alongside the doctors of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. While working under the supervision of Dr. Morgan in Maryland, Dr. Dougherty also had the chance to work among the sports medicine and orthopaedic teams of the United Stated Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. She primarily treated the Navy football team, but would occasionally see other athletes as well. Dr. Cassie obtained additional degrees/certifications in: Whole Foods Nutrition, Selective Functional Movement Analysis, and Applied Kinesiology.
