I attended a hotel buy sponsored by Crescent Jewelers. I had two carts filled with items from my mother's estate. The representative took time to carefully look at everything. She gave me more money than other jewelers had offered for her jewelry, coins, and silver. She identified gold jewelry that I thought was only costume. In fact, another jeweler I had gone to told me it was costume, when in fact it was gold! She also helped me decide how to liquidate most of the other items I brought in.
I also took in my father's military souvenirs that the family did not want. They could not have been more informative and they paid almost 3 Times more than a local military dealer offered.
It was an overall excellent experience. This was in the Chicago suburbs.
Whatever you do, don't go to their hotel buys! What a rip off. Of course what should I have expected from a place that spends that much on advertising. Found out later from an actual coin dealer that they only paid spot price for some gold and silver coins I sold them that where worth a lot more. Seller beware. They have a lot of overhead to make up before they break even on those hotel buys. You are better off just going right to a coin shop for your best prices!
My fiancé went to them when he decided to buy my engagement ring. Not only was he impressed with how knowable the lady was but how helpful they were. He was able to design a beautiful engagement ring identical to ones at the mall for half the price and with a better quality diamond.
