Fox Lake Family Restaurant

Several times I have had breakfast at this restaurant and the food was hot and the service was good.

Today it was not good. My breakfast arrived with dark brown almost black hash browns. My cheese omelet was overcooked and browned. My sausage links were cold. My white toast was ever so slightly toasted and the bread was cold and mushy. The waitress did not once ask how the food was during our meal. It dark brown hash browns had to be a clue, especially after I took one bite and didn't touch them again. However, she avoided eye contact until she brought the check. Then she finally asked how breakfast was. I told her the truth; it was not good. It was cold. It was overcooked.



The first thing she said was that she picked it up right away. This had to be a lie, or why else was all of my food cold. I was very polite and just told her I thought she would want to know. She said she would tell the cook. She took the plate back with the dark brown overcooked hash browns. I expected her to ask if I wanted replacement hash browns which I did.



The very least she could have done was taken a dollar off of the cost of my food. I also told her that we have eaten their before and the food was good, but not today.



So, if you go, don't let the white, heavyset woman be your waitress. Get the tall, slender waitress who has always done a good job with our food.



I should have been more vocal about the cold food, but I was hungry. And, yes, we still left her a tip of $2 when it should have been 2 cents.
