I really enjoy this theatre's productions. Many of them are adapted from books written by Black playwrights. The theatre is small which brings the audience close together. You are also close to the action and won't have any trouble seeing or hearing the actors. This theatre chooses some great plays to create like The Bluest Eye and The Women of Brewster Place.
Jubilee offers a wealth of talent and depth. The recent performance of Blue was one of the best shows I've seen in the Dallas Fort Worth area. I will travel far for good theatre and the Jubilee does not disappoint. The set, treatment of the story, singing and drama spoke to the breadth of the African American experience. It was such a joy to see regional theatre at it's best. I'll return again and again for such a treat. Ed Smith has done an exceptional job since the untimely death of Rudy Eastman. Bravo!
