After spending several hours perusing books at the Half Price Books near Ridgmar, I stumbled upon the 5th edition of a marketing book which Half Price was selling for $8. Amazon however sells the book for only $.01, since two later versions of the book have been published already.I went and asked the manager if I could buy the book for $4 instead, which would be the same price as if I bought from Amazon plus the shipping and handling. The manager made me wait several minutes to fact-check my info, then insisted that although I was right about the price, the store did not match Amazon prices. The manager refused to lower the price of the book, and told me that if I wanted the lower price I should go to Amazon.I am very disturbed that the manager of this store was unwilling to bring the price down by even $4 for a book which was clearly overpriced. I took his advice and bought the book from Amazon, and plan to take all my future business to Amazon since clearly they have the better prices and care more about customer satisfaction.
