Cork 'N Cleaver Steak & Seafood

Cork n Cleaver has held a high reputation in regards to food and service. This was not been my first visit but note of concern: with the ecomonic conditions of our country had this been my first visit it would have been my LAST. We were just there on Dec. 11, 2010. I ignored the very poor service excusing it due to the holidays and I seen there were a lot of very large groups there. BUT when it came to the quality of my food this is where I draw the line. Our apptetizers were over cooked and nasty that we sent it back, we ordered more then one the other one was fine, NOT oh, my gosh this is delicious but we ate it. I generally order the same steak everytime and I usually order it well done, I know this is not how you should order a steak and if it were anywhere else I would agree. But I have always been very satisfied with the quality of my steak EVEN well done it is very moist, tender and wonderful flavor. This time I was hurried by the waitress and accidently said med. well for it to bee cooked. I realized after she left the table and just decided if it came back to raw for my taste I'd have them throw it on a few min's longer, it was my mistake. Well, to my surprise it came to me burned with charcole black edges, it was dry and tasted like a burned steak. I awaited for her to return so that I could tell her but she never returned and we were with another couple who had pretty much finished their food and I didn't want to hold up anyone so I tried to eat the parts that were not so black. I usually order the 6oz but orderd the 8 oz instead as I was really hungry and looking so forward to our dinner. After much consideration of my experience there I felt compelled to write a review as again with the economic condition of the country I feel cork n cleaver should be aware of how fast news travels and regardless of a reputation for higher quality when they start allowing their standards to slide.

While visiting from out of state, we took my son and his wife out for their 20th Wedding Anniversary to this restaurant which had been recommended. The food was nothing exciting for the price.My son had a "baseball" steak which although flavorful, was very tough and chewy. Considering the cost, it should have been fork tender. The pork chops were acceptable but again nothing special. The one thing that really was totally out of line was an added charge of $2.50 if you wanted a sweet potatoe. The fish dinners of salmon and tilapia were very good and cooked properly. All and all it is our opinion that there are other restaurants out there that serve better for less.I doubt we will return.

Going to Cork'N Cleaver is a favorite of my husband and me. They have THE BEST salad bar and the service is impeccable. It's cozy, comfortable and a great place to relax for a nice intimate dinner but also great if you have a small group celebrating a special occasion. Enjoy!
