Nearly all TVs, no matter how new or old, can usually be repaired – unless you got mad and threw it out a window. However, most standard problems, like fuzzy or distorted display, no power, power but the TV won’t turn on, and sound and digital issues can usually be fixed by a brave DIYer, or a skilled service tech. For simple fixes, depending on the cost of parts and the labor rates, you can reasonably expect to pay roughly $100-$250 at local or independent repair shops – more (probably a lot more) if you go to chain box stores. Can a flat screen TV be repaired?
Depending on the specific problem, there is a good chance your flat screen television can be fixed. Faulty parts and damaged screens can be often replaced -- within reason. Most electronics come with manufacturer’s warranties that will cover all or part of the cost of faulty items - for a limited time. If the screen on your flat screen is broken or cracked, you can try replacing the screen, LCD, plasma, or LED parts yourself. Do some research and watch available videos online. Or, you can have a pro do it, but be sure to get a quote for repairs--you don’t want to pay more for repairs than the TV is worth. Rule of thumb: if it costs 50 percent or more of your TV’s value to fix it, consider replacing it instead.
