I have been seeing Dr. Kenneth Galang for many years and have always been completely satisfied with his care and concern over my well being. I don't feel like he has his hand on the door knob as he attends to my visit like so many doctors do today. I am his only patient when I am in his office and how I'm doing is his main concern. Dealing with people in pain and running an office distributing prescriptions for such is not easy and I'm sure there are situations that arise that we don't know about that can cause unrest. Thank you Dr. Galang for all that you give to each one.

I can’t testify to the quali...

I can’t testify to the quality of Dr. Kenneth Galang’s care, but I can certainly say that the office in which he practices is thoroughly mismanaged. His wife, Maria Galang, was the office manager when I worked there as an office assistant last December (for just 3 days before quitting).

The office was like a factory, and a poorly run one at that; Ms. Galang seemed to accept any patient at all with money, even when the patient load was overflowing. As someone who was checking patients in, I noticed the overlapping appointments booked everyday. Most patients’ wait times were long. I know this isn’t that atypical of a doctor’s office these days, but that doesn’t make it acceptable.

Ms. Galang runs the place haphazardly, at best. The office files were horrifically disorganized, which, for a medical office, I found disturbing. I received very little useful direction from Ms. Galang about my job; for someone without any prior medical office experience, I felt very inadequately trained to deal with the responsibilities she was handing me. Moreover, although I was hired for an office job, by day one, she notified me that this “office” job would entail picking up her young children from school/after school activities and transporting them around town in my own vehicle. She informed me that I’d be paid as a contract employee (though I worked in the office only and not at all as an independent contractor).

Ms. Galang instructed me not to notify the other workers that I was being paid, because she had other people in the office working for free on a “trial” basis, or so she told them. Also on day one, she told me that a particular former disgruntled employee would probably call and if she did call, I was to tell her that Ms. Galang was out of the office and would return her call; she told me the girl claimed Ms. Galang owed her money, while Ms. Galang disputed this accusation, implying that she was simply being a disgruntled employee. Another former employee also came to the office that day because she hadn’t received communication from Ms. Galang about an employment issue; Ms. Galang instructed us in the front office to let her know she wasn’t in the office (when she was, in fact, in and not busy). The former employee actually waited for several hours in the lobby for Ms. Galang; I don’t know if she ever spoke with her, as my shift was over while she was still waiting.

During my short time there, I saw patients disagree with Ms. Galang about insurance issues, arguing they had already paid or that they owed less than what Ms. Galang was charging them for their visit. By day three, no one had come to open the office in the morning (it was supposed to be either her or her husband, Dr. Galang); the patients stood, (many of them in pain of course), outside for at least a half hour waiting for someone to show up. Another employee told me this was a common occurrence and the patients were frequently left waiting. In the short three days I was there, other coworkers constantly complained about the poor working conditions and pay (including not receiving proper pay and being seriously overworked and underpaid).

All of these giant red flags led me to promptly quit after only 3 days. After requesting my paycheck several times and receiving either an excuse or no response, I finally received partial payment for the first 2 days of work 2 months later. I never received a check for the last full day I worked. I contacted the U.S. Department of Labor; the case manager I spoke with said he had had dealt with Ms. Galang before for not compensating workers.

While Dr. Galang seems like a very nice man, I have to say: if the quality of the office management is anything like the quality of care received, then I would absolutely never be a patient there, nor would I recommend their services to anyone else. Frankly, I can’t believe the place is allowed to run and call itself legit.

Nasty, Rude & Dishonest

I was in Dr Galang's Office today & witnessed a woman ranting, raving & screaming at the top of her lungs at a gentlemen in the lobby.

This woman was Dr Galang's wife.

A male patient was telling the receptionist he was overcharged at his last visit.
The receptionist said I have to speak to Marie (Galang's wife & office mgr) at the time she was yelling at the nurse.

When she was finished the receptionist approached her & he too was yelled at by Mrs Galang. She then called the male patient over & asked him to explain but as he tried she spoke over him constantly.

Mrs Galang wasn't making sense (they were talking only about 6' away & I heard everything) when the patient said I don't understand what you are talking about she said, "I really don't have time for this" so the patient said, "I don't want to argue with you & I know if I don't agree with you & pay what you say I owe, you will not let me see the doctor, so please just tell me how much you want & I'll pay it because I have to get my prescription.

The patient spoke calming, didn't raise his voice & tried to reason with Mrs Galang but she had an agenda.

Mrs Galang then started screaming & yelling like a crazy person telling the patient I will see to it that this is your last appointment, you will need to find another dr because you will not be coming back here.

I spoke to other patients also waiting & one of them told me Dr Galang left 2 other practices because the other doctors in the practice didn't want Mrs Galang in the office.

From what I understand Mrs Galang has temper tantrums often not only at the employees but the patients also.

It's a shame you're in pain, need to see a doctor & encounter a person who threatens you if you get overcharged.

I heard the patient was not given another appointment because Dr Galang stood by his wife.

There are plenty of other doctors to see, I know I will not be going back.

Other than writing a review I wish there was something else to do.

It's unfortunate the doctor isn't the problem, for all I know he may be a nice guy & a good doctor.

The problem is his wife & for whatever reason he is standing by her, I hope he reads this & understands his wife is the problem, she has a problem & needs help.

Dr. Galang is that truly caring doctor that takes his patients best interest to heart. Unlike other pain management doctors, i feel he is concerned about me and not just after the buck with unnecessary spinal injections but seems to know precisely where and when. He's the doctor to treat your problem and manage your pain, not just to write a prescription.

Dr. Galang is a truley great doctor! From the way he greets you, to the help he offers his patients. He is very compassionate & knowledgable and provides fibromyalgia treatment (which some doctors do not believe in..) instead of just writing you a prescription and sending you on your way, he does his best to find helpful solutions. Dr Galang remembers everything we talk about at each appointment, even though he is always booked and sees double the patients than most.. which goes to show a lot about his character.
