Have a little food with your salt

Ok so we are sushi snobs and know good sushi, but this place is terrible, flat out terrible. From the rude , abrupt way we were greeted and sat, to how even the cocktail shirmp was laced in salt ..everything was bad. Oh well the cheese cake bits were ok, but I suppose those are made on premisis. One trip up was all we needed... We paid and left.

Now this wasnt My first time trying Kyojin, Id been before and was not impressed, not with the food, the freshness or the price. But this IS the last time Ill give the place a chance. My friend I was with wanted sushi, oh well. As we waited for the check we watched other diners shoveling the food down and said, whoa.. Is it us?.. Well no. Its just that people dont know good food anymore. its sad really.

We just left this restaurant and I'm disgusted and horrified! As I'm less than halfway though my lunch and I notice a roach heading straight for my food. On the table going for my plate!! Got up and alerted the waitress and a gentleman from another table came over to kills it. They STILL made us PAY! They offered us 10% off. 10% is 2.00 off! What kind of customer service is that? I'm shocked and repulsed by the Roach and will never return but I am hugely disappointed with the fact they did not tell us that did not have to pay for the little bit of food we ate. We did not stay or touch any more food, paid our bill and got up to leave. As we were leaving the hostess tells us sorry it's the weather and our food is so good even the roaches want to eat. WHAT????? Total nightmare never again!

I've been going there since they opened. Consistantly a great experience.

Every time I have out of town company or people want somewhere different to go, this is where I take them.

Sushi, Hibatchi Grill, various soups and hot foods....

You can't beat the price or the selection!

great food & great value

this was clearly a winner. Typically, asian buffets are big on quantity and variety but quality is lacking. However, I thought this Japanese buffet rated very high on quality. The sushi selection was huge and the seaweed salad and tempura shrimp were first rate.
Could easily see this as a weely excursion

Best sushi/oriental buffet in City! Warm, friendly service. Something for everyone

We've gone to Kyojin almost weekly for years, and found them to have consistently excellent service, food, variety. It's a place we can take a group, whether our staff or even our large family who claim they don't like sushi. Between the salad offerings, soups, fruits, desserts, hot dishes (fried shrimp are HUGE and delicious!, peppered beef or dumplings yummy, fried rice, sauteed mushrooms, fried veggies (try the sweet potatoes!), and grill/hibachi where you can pick your ingredients and have it prepared how you like it - everybody goes away satisfied and happy. The hostess and waitresses make us feel like family. Try it! You'll love it!!

Excellent Sushi Buffet

Wow! Buffet restaurants are often sad little porker paradises laden with sub-standard carb filled crap.

Kyojin Buffet smashes that stereotype. If you like sushi and raw fish and rare seafood, you'll flip for Kyojin. They offer about 30 different types of fresh made sushi on their immaculate well maintained sushi buffet line. They have raw tuna, marlin, mahi and a jellyfish salad mix that is phenomonal. They offer a mongolian grill with fresh ingredients. Then you move onto the hot buffet line which I sadly did not test. I looked at it but greedily ate the wonderful sushi. The hot line includes a sweetly battered calamari, crab legs and a fresh whole salmon.

The kicker is the price - it is only about $20 per person. Sushi rolls are usually priced between $7-10 each. This gives you an opportunity to try some rare and unique sushi without spending $50 and getting stuck with a roll you don't like.

If you shun buffets, wear a disguise, park around the side and sneak on in to Kyojin. You'll be a convert soon enough. Who knows, maybe you'll soon frequent Golden Corral (just kidding).

Not worth the money

Simply not worth the $20 for 11 years and up. I had to pay $20 for an 11 year old girl that at a plate of chicken. They TRIED to charge me $8.95 for my 2 year old and her half a plate of rice. The main reason we went was for crab legs and sushi but the sushi rice was overcooked and it totally took away from all of the sushi. The crab legs were cold and unedible. The service was ok, but not as professional as I would have expected. They had annoying signs that said to 'dress appropriate' or 'watch your kids' and 'don't overeat' (just the jest of the signs). So as you see, not very happy. Perhaps it was because the week before we went to Makino Japanese Buffet and it was MUCH better and cheaper.

Good Food, Great Price

At 18 dollars a person for all you can eat sashimi and crab legs, you can't go wrong. There was also a great spread of sushi, hibachi to order including scallops and shrimp, traditional Chinese dishes, some Japanese items such as tempura and a decent desert table. The variety and quantity was excellent. I would have to say the actual quality is just good. The atmosphere is by no means that of a Denny's or other cafateria typically associated with a buffet, but at the same time, it wasn't really upscale either. Definitely not a first date place. We went on a weekend evening so we had the full spread, but on weekday evenings, it is 16 dollars but you don't have the snow crab legs. The real bargin is on weekday lunches. The price is 8 dollars, but you don't get the sashimi, hibachi scallops/shrimp or the crab legs.
