Vera Cruz Apartments

DO NOT MOVE HERE! 5738 Old Dixie Rd. Forest Park, GA. Some of the things we are going through are a leaking "roof" that the managers have not looked into fixing since we moved here in April 2012, many cracks around the patio doors that let in gigantic cockroaches at night, an huge ant infestation in the apartments downstairs (my neighbor downstairs alerted me to this, saying that a handyman had to drill the wall to set up her window blinds and the ants just came pouring out and they've actually taken over her apartment), prejudice coming from the Latino handymen (I was told "off the record" that they have a storehouse full of new appliances and things that are meant to replace ours when they are broken, but that, since the handymen are Latino, and this is mainly a Latino community, they save all oft he brand new items for "their own," noisy music being played day and night (and I am talking 2am. baby not sleeping and cant get up for work the next day) , and trash thrown all over the apartment buildings. The worst things that I have had to experience are these: my father came over for a visit and could not stay in my home because the handymen began painting right next door to me, causing all of us to flee for safety, because we simply could not breathe in any part of our own home! My father has been painting for over 35 years and he says that they were using lacquer paint, which causes respiratory ailments and should not be used in live buildings! I have an 18 month old daughter and I feel severely wronged because of this. Not to mention, I've called the manager's office SEVERAL times to report that there are feces in the hallways of the building and they need to be removed. They have now been there for two weeks and no one has done anything to remove them, so they have dried up, been kicked around, and now sprinkle the halls. So, when we walk over it, we track it into our homes where we have children and babies who play on the floor. It's truly a shame that the manager here and staff cannot get it together. I am actually afraid to find what may be unearthed here in a thorough investigation. Who knows what really covers these walls and what kind of filth really coats the carpets? We are tired of living in these conditions and I think that they should either do better or free us from our leasing contracts. In fact, we went there today, to complain about the same dog doodoo in the hallway that has been sitting there for weeks (among various things we needed done in our apartment). I cannot even say how many times we have been in there are this same doodoo. The manager sat there with his face half covered while he scribbled our complaints on a scrap piece of paper for show. No work order, no guarantee, nothing! Then sent us on our way. We called again three more times today to make sure they were coming, and they kept saying they were on their way. Never showed up. Sick and tired of this community, the staff, everything! A friend of mine who lives here has alerted channel 2 news and I am about to do the same. And this is just one building. Some residents in the other buildings are worse off! Let them tell it!
