After reading reviews, I was a little worried coming to this place but I was
pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decor and effort made by this family
establishment. When I asked the first girl manning the door seating people what
kind of cuisine it was, she replied European. Later when the three sisters were
manning the bar together and they saw I wasn't trying to hit on any of them, I
asked a different sister and she replied they were Brazilian, Russian and
Persian. Though I didn't try anything from their dinner menu, and the wedding I
was attending was Puerto Rican/American, the paella at the buffet was terrific.
Also some of the grilled vegetables with roasted garlic cloves were also very

The food is fresh, creatively prepared, the service is excellent, the ambiance is very nice and to top it off you get fresh flowers on the table !
As for the wine list we found it to be adequate, the desserts are to die for.
But the best part is in the bill, very reasonable!
And chef comes by to make sure your happy with the food and service !
Compared with other similar places in Forest hills in our opinion this is a sleeper.

My Kitchen has a great atmosphere: nice lighting, clean & fresh decor, beautifully set tables with linen and candles and flowers. Even the music was enjoyable. The restaurant was empty (Thursday night in March, 7pm) - we found that surprising. The owner provided great service. The mozzarella/tomato/red pepper appetizer was fresh and yummy. The entrees we had: pork chops and the short ribs. The short ribs were outstanding. the pork chops were ok. The side dishes were potatos and spinach; these were also good. I had a nice glass of Chardonnay, my brother in law enjoyed an excellently made Jack & Coke (two of them). We also enjoyed dessert (great cheesecake, the tiramasu was ok).
I will definitely go back.
We chose this restaurant in order to scope out the banquet room and patio as a location for a party. We loved the ambiance of both.

My Kitchen definitely has great ambiance, there is no set dress code although it feels as if it might. the chef has a very unique flare and his wife is just fantastic. They are a lovely couple. The dishes range from to die for to Alright. The prices are just right and the ambiance is for Lovers. definitely a first date type of place or the type of place you take someone you love. the waitstaff is youthful and with that come lots of positives and some negatives but it is what it is.

Came here with a good friend last night, at his recommendation, given that we were in the neighborhood. Bright, cheerful-looking place with an open facade. Not that many tables which made for good, attentive service. It's a family team - Dad cooks; mom and the twin daughters serve the customers.
Food was excellent - eclectic menu with good variety. I had Cajun seasoned chicken over a bed of greens - well-prepared. My buddy had a rather unusual-sounding dish of chicken in summer fruits with a champagne sauce. I was skeptical (sounds more like chicken in a cocktail to me), but it was yum. And then the desserts - oh my! Profiteroles and a seven-berry cake? Happy were we!

Stay far, far away. Do not make the same mistake we did. I can't make this stuff up, please read.
We had an event in the party room with 50 adults and 20 children.
We did not learn about the majority of these issues until several days after our event when our family and friends felt more comfortable telling us their real experiences. We have been busy this week calling each family to apologize for selecting this place - seriously.
The owner , Galik puts up a good front when you are putting your deposit down but it is a farce. He is obnoxious, has zero customer service and was three sheets to the wind by the end of our event at 8pm. Reading other posts I don't think this was an exception.
First of all, we were not allowed to pick our menu and were not told this until 10 days before our party when we tried to finalize the menu. Galik told us the items on the menu were samples of what he might cook but the ultimate decision was his. His argument was, ""Trust me, it will be delicious."" It was too late to back out so we moved forward.
45 minutes into our party there were no appetizers. Galik yelled at my wife when she asked for a status. His reply was that the food takes time to cook. Why he didn't think of this before our party started is beyond me. Especially someone that repeatedly reminds you he is a trained chef.
When the ""passing of the appetizers"" did finally happen, one of the guests mentioned to my wife that they weren't able to try any of the clams. My wife went to Galik to ask for more and he just screamed ""everything comes out in sequence"" , he ran to the pot where the clams were , shook them up and said ""look these are all your clams for your damn party, let us do our job and bring them out when they are ready in sequence order "". My wife was completely stunned as anyone would be. His behavior is just absolutely unbelievable especially when you are the paying customer.
A simple request was made from one of our guests , to have a bowl of hot water so they can warm a bottle for their 7 month old daughter. Galik's response, ""do I look like I am running a soup kitchen?"" Our guest even explained why she needed it and still he refused. Who does that??
Children had a couple of menu options. My 2 yr old niece was so busy playing she didn't eat promptly and her pasta was removed from the table. When my sister asked Galik for another bowl of pasta he refused her request. His reasoning was that he already made the pasta and it wasn't his fault that she didn't eat the first time. Keep in mind, a bowl of pasta for a 2 yr old. How much effort does it take to make 1/8 lb of pasta?
Another guest asked the waitress if they can have a bowl of pasta with sauce on the side for his child .The waitress' response was , no sorry we don't do that , our guest was confused . This is the first time in a restaurant hearing that they will not fulfill a simple request like that. The waitress was probably scared to go back to the kitchen to ask Galik such a request .I don't blame her for he just screams and embarrasses everyone.
Galik did not prepare enough food. Our party was buffet style. We later discovered he made one tray of each entree and nothing more. My mother asked for a second serving of fish. Galik told her there was no more. No other explanation was given.
We are very embarrassed and very sorry to all our family and friends that we chose this place for our event.
Please help us deliver the message to Galik that this is not acceptable. Stay away!!!!

Do not have your wedding reception/private party here!!!
I recently attended a wedding reception at this venue and was extremely dissappointed in the food, service, and the attitude of the owner. The evening got off to a bad start when some guests arrived early for the reception (3pm for a 4pm start), and rather than simply inform the guests that the party room was not yet open, the owner began setting up early. The guests themselves simply sat in the completely empty restaurant, ordering drinks, which they paid for themselves. When the bride and groom arrived at 4pm, he informed them that they would have to pay for the ""extra time his staff worked to set up early"", and charged them an additional $250. Never mind that he had actually made money selling the guests alcohol, that the hall still wasn't completely ready by 4, and that there's almost no way keeping a staff of 5 teenaged waiters around to set up 10 tables for an hour cost him $250.
All this would have been irrelevant had the food been good. It wasn't bad, but it was certainly nothing to write home about. After promising ""steaks cooked the way you'd like,"" the owner/chef returned to the kitchen, leaving his teenaged waiters to inform the guests that the steaks would all be prepared ""medium."" When they arrived, most were medium/well at best. Most were over done and tough, all were completely flavorless. There was no salt and pepper on the tables, so waiters were left scrambling to provide condiments for the dissappointed guests. The chicken was soggy, and also flavorless.
The cake dissappointed even the bride and groom. The groom remarked that it tasted nothing like the sample they were given at the tasting. It was dry, and the pieces were cut as small and thin as possible. That said, the icing was pretty.
Drinks were over priced (a glass of mid range red wine was 7 bucks!), and the youthful bartenders didn't know the difference between rum and vodka.
Add to that the owners creepy fawning over the young women in attendence, and the reception turned into a dissappointing follow-up to a beautiful ceremony. It's a shame, as the restaurant itself is lovely and a perfect site for a small reception, and the wait staff, while very young, was very pleasant.
It was telling that when we left at 8, no one was sitting in the restaurant area on a beautiful Saturday night.

I recently went there for a friend's wedding. While the service was better than we expected (my friend paid for open-bar and the waiters/waitresses kept stopping by to make sure that we were ok in the drink department), however it stopped right there. The ceremony was held in the evening in the back ""garden"" of the restaurant and there were mosquitos flying everywhere. The restaurant should at least have some sort of repellent candles or coils so that the guests wouldn't turn into a feast for the mosquitos. The butter was melting on the uncovered plate since it was a pretty warm & humid day and the air conditioning was not on. The prime rib that I had was bland and hard. They only had two restrooms and one of them was flooded before the night ended. Probably the restaurant itself is decent, but it's just not ready to host any big events/celebration.

went there for a wedding and the food was mediocre. the appetizers were spreads on crakers and the bathroom was never cleaned through the night as it should have been with so many guests. we found hair in 2 of our dishes. the service was constant which was the only thing good.

I've been to this restaurant three times, and one of those three times the food was decent - hearty comfort food. The other two times, the chef took liberties, substituting pasta dishes for two of the dishes we ordered, so that our entire meal consisted of starches. Food presentation and service are sloppy, and many of the dishes rely on the same tomato/caper/salt flavor profile. Extremely disappointing.
