All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
It’s time to bring long sleeves and long pants out of storage, prep your home and car, and contact the cool weather home/yard contractors.
I went to Roger's Exhaust Shop reluctantly. I always have had bad luck when going to any kind of mechanic shop, even just to get an oil change. They see a woman and they always over charge me or even treat me, well... like a female. Anyways Roger was very respectful, gave me a decent price for the muffler I needed, and explained in detail what the situation was with my car. I will go back to his shop next time with confidence knowing I will be treated right, and fair. I recommend this shop to everybody. My muffler was changed very quickly, and even though he had appointments for Saturday, he still fit me in. I work all week and that's the only day I could make it. As my muffler was changed I watched him and his workers, and they were all very efficient in what they were doing. I live paycheck to paycheck and it's very hard to find businesses that are not out to rip you off. I can say in all honesty Rogers Exhaust Shop is not one of those businesses. Try this shop first, it is a free estimate so if you are not happy with the estimate then you can go elsewhere. But I assure you, you will be satisfied with it. I don't usually write any kind of review for a company, but this time I had to.
I came in on a Friday to speak to Roger or Sparky about soon doing a complete cat back on my Mustang. Sparky was very informative on what he could do and the benefits I could expect to see. He didn't have the stainless tips in stock so he had to order them. He told me to swing by the following week. I came back the following Tuesday at 8:00AM like we spoke about and was told the distributor hadn't delivered the parts yet. To swing by in a couple more days. Since Sparky was a no show Roger took my name and contact info down and was going to call me when all the parts came in. A few days came and went and no call came my way. I called them and they told me that they didn't really remember me or know what I was talking about but told me they were booked full and I was going to have to wait until the following week. This shop is great if you want to get the run around but I would have been better served just buying a cat-back system of the internet and installing it myself. Cheaper and I could guarantee it would be done. Sorry guys after my 86' K10 and 03' F250 you really dropped the ball on this one. I will be looking for another shop from now on.
On May 17, 2013, I had an outstanding experience with American Tire. I went on May 12, 2013 to receive information on rims and tires for my car. I called back on Monday May 13, 2013 to make my final decision. I was concerned about the timing due to the upcoming weekend I was schedule to go out of town. After finding out my tires would not arrive until that Friday afternoon. I spoke with a person name Tony who understood the importance on the shipment to be received on Friday. Toney went that morning and meet the driver and picked up my rims, and called and left me a message that morning to inform me that my rims and tires would be ready that morning. I was so pleased with the fact that Tony went out of his way to accommodate me. the attention I received from Tony and American Tires make me feel special. Every opportunity I get I tell people what a great experience I received from American tires.
I can't believe this - I didn't know that the dealer prices are pretty much up there! So, I tried out this place in Fontana I happened to drive past and told them I was recommended some things from the dealer and they wrote me up and decided to inspect the car first since they said they want to check it themselves and I was ok with that. basically, they recommended only certain things that the dealer recommended and they gave me individual prices that were a lot less and my total was already coming up to around a half of the dealer's! They even showed me the areas they were going to work on and showed me my old parts and they told me all my repairs were warrantied and to come back for a free checkup after 500 miles just to double check the work! awesome and different experience than the dealer - thanks guys!!
I have been using Rodgers for all of my exhaust needs over the past 10 years. I have had countless vehicles (Subaru STI, X Runner, Mustang, GMC Truck, ect that have all been taken care of by Rodgers. I can’t think Rodger and Sparky enough for all of the hard work they have done for me as well as everyone I have referred to them. I recently took my truck down for a header back exhaust and they did a great job making it. Not only did it look and fit amazing but it also sounds amazing. That same trip down my truck was having issues starting (damn fuses) Rodger and Sparky were able to lend a hand and helped me get the truck back up and running. Should you be in the need to have any muffler system work fabed up and installed have no reservations when handing the keys over to Rodgers. Thanks again guys!
Otto D. NORTHRIDGE, CA 11/14/2013 I am so glad I took my car to them. I was involved in an accident and the rear of my car was severely damage. I was so worried that my car would take a long time to fix but they finished everything within 5 days. They gave me daily updates of what was going on with my car. I was so happy with the end result and love the great job they did. If you need a job well done I recommend them, they made me feel like family. If I ever get into another accident they will surely get my business. I will recommend them to my family, friends and coworkers to bring their car here.
This is a family owned and operated transmission repair shop, JR, his dad, his sister, and the rest of the staff are and exceptional group of people! I had my 1990 Chevy truck transmission rebuilt there about 6 years ago and it still runs as good as new today. My daughter had her 2004 Maxima transmission rebuilt there also about 2 1/2 years ago, an issue came up with it recently, they repaired it even though it was out of warranty because of some unforeseen circumstances, now that is customer service! Their prices are reasonable; they are honest, and will stand behind their work with integrity!
I have been a loyal customer of D&D for over 25yrs.! It is a small family owned business, but what it lacks in high-tech appeal, it more than makes up for in experience and honesty. The operator and master mechanic goes through the trouble of explaining the issue with the car and the parts required to fix the issue. Not to mention the warranty on the labor. You are even welcomed to stay and wait while the labor is being done so that you can observe the work being completed on your car! ---from a safe distance:) He doesn't over-charge. Very decent mechanic/establishment!
Was looking for a used car on CL, thinking I wouldn't be able to get financed for a used car at a dealership because of my poor credit history and unfortunate repossession in 2009. But I gave it a shot and ended up leaving with my 2005 Honda civic (: All thanks to the financing man and KRISTA.. The whole staff was friendly, but Krista went above and beyond for me and for that I'm grateful! Now I have a great, reliable, absolutely perfect car that will last me for years to come. Thank You R&B and for truly treating me like FAMILY
Most honest mechanic ever!My husband thought his transmission was going out. He wanted to just buy one and put it in. No such luck on finding one. He called JR and he was very doubtful it was the trans. Said it sounded like the u joints. We bought u joints put them and VOILA no more problems. All this over the phone. I can't say how thankful I am for JR and his honesty! He saved us A LOT of money! If you ever need and honest mechanic American Transmission Exchange is the place to go!
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
