It is with regret that my experience of yesterday has compelled me to write a complaint about the AutoTire store located at 14090 New Halls Ferry Road in Florissant, MO 63033. My thoughts were made known to some of the staff there, one of which may have been a manager.

I am a longstanding customer of this establishment with a purchase history that may extend several decades. The service and prices have always met my expectations. That service has included not just my car but those of my wife, daughter and son.

Yesterday my car needed four new tires and although the price for the tires may have been high that portion of the service was acceptable. The problem is that I was told my 2010 Camry (purchased new) of approximately 45,500 miles needed new struts on the front end. At that time one of the mechanics maneuvered my car on a lift to show me the item. It looked in good repair but he pointed out some fluid on the surface and informed me that it needed to be replaced as it was leaking. Not being a mechanic but being a knowledgeable consumer I informed the staff that comparison shopping done and a second opinion would be sought. Immediately the staff offered to lower the price 10% and allow me the use of a loaner while the work was being done. I declined.

Today my car was taken to a local mechanic. My instructions to them were to check the front end and the staff there were told that the car had stiff steering at times and that the ride seemed bouncy. This approach was taken as it highlighted strut symptoms but did not prejudice their examination by suggesting a cause. After their work was done they reported no real issues except the car needed a new battery. It was at that point that I told them the defect that the AutoTire staff had claimed to find. I was assured that there was no problem with the struts and none should be expected in a car of its milage and driving history. This is when I went back to AutoTire and told them of the findings.

AutoTire will no longer have my business.
