Endoscopy
Depending on severity and location of the cancer, it can be diagnosed through a number of different medical procedures, include: blood-work, diagnostic imaging, and/or endoscopy procedures.
Prostate Cancer
Radiopharmaceuticals are linked to a cancer specific proteins, meaning that as the molecules travel through the body, they will deposit doses of radiation to their specific proteins wherever they are found. Some Theranostics are cancer specific, such as PSMA for prostate cancer and Lutathera Dotatate for neuroendocrine tumors, while others, like Xofigo, have a slightly broader target.

Lung Cancer
Low-Dose CT scans can be used to detect lung cancer in its early stages. Unlike a chest x-ray which produces shadows of the lungs, CT scans provide high-resolution, 3D images. The term “low dose” means that the CT scans uses very little radiation, which results in minimal negative side effects on the patient. CT lung screenings have shown to decrease cancer deaths by 20% in high-risk patients, compared to traditional chest X-rays.

MRI
Gone are the days where patients need to travel to big cities and multiple buildings at large, brand-name institutions to receive state-of-the-art treatments. Patients at CSNF, instead, have access to PET/CT and MRI imaging, in-house pharmacy services, and the most promising clinical trials, all under one roof and in close proximity to their homes at one of our 13 neighborhood locations.

The process begins with a targeted PET/CT scan in order to determine which protein receptors are found on a patient’s tumor sites.
Chemotherapy
The term “chemo brain” seems much more intimidating than it actually is. If your treatment involves chemotherapy, you may experience foggy memory. Radiation Therapy
Radiation therapy is the use of high-energy radiation to damage cancer cells’ DNA and destroy their ability to divide and grow. Delivered by machines called linear accelerators or via radioactive sources placed inside the patient, radiation therapy is used to treat cancer and relieve or alleviate symptoms.
