Running Paws, Spot Canine Club lost my dog while I was out of the country. They allowed him to escape due to their negligent staff and he ran home 2 miles. I have eye witnesses, messages and texts that contradict the timeline provided by Josh Stein, the owner of Spot Canine Club on 60th & 1st Ave. My doorman told me that someone from Spot came to the building to see if the dog was returned home. When they learned the dog was there, they harassed the doorman, trying to get the dog back. No one from Running Paws Spot Canine Club contacted me about this incident until after the learned that I was already long aware that the dog made his way home. It took a while to get an explanation from Josh Stein who then told me that his staff left the building with friends inside to go out for coffee and no employees were onsite when the incident occurred. They originally charged my credit card for the dog's shortened stay, but later reimbursed those fees. They have yet to pay me for any additional fees associated with my dog's escape and refuse to take responsibility for this matter. If you love your dog, please do not use this facility.
Grooming is something you should invest to for your dogs or other pets. This center caters to customers in a budget but who love their pets.
OK, So we're new to this area so we took our family dog here to get a groom for the 1st time. He's a 6 year old Lhasa Apso, to give a good idea of his size and style one would expect from a groom. He came back from the groom with hair that was completely uneven, a horrible razor burn cut under his chin and his face and ears were not groomed at all.OK, had the Manager (the weirdo creep other mention here) been congenial, heard our complaints & refunded us the $80 (an outrageous price for this groom), I'd have written a review that reflected good business management. However, the fact is the "manager" was rude and uncooperative. The groomer, poor girl, is just not a good groomer and blamed our dog's "hair" on why it took her so long to groom him. She told us he was biting her which is either a lie or she was handling him roughly which is possible because he kept backing away from her when we went in to show them the issues and get a refund. We've never had ANY groomer ever complain about this dog, in fact, the opposite, the last groomer from upstate NY wanted to adopt him.The groom was incomplete, our dog has a gaping weeping cut from razor burn, the hair that was cut is a total chop job and most importantly, the manager is a complete creepy JERK. Oh I should also mention what a DUMPY HOLE the place is. I shudder to think how our dog was treated behind that sheet that says (groomer area) in the back.
A daycare for dogs? Seems absurd, right? Well, I was hesitant to try it but after boarding out dog there for a few nights and seeing how she interacted with the friendly staff and other dogs, I decided to bring her to daycare a few times a month. The place is well run and affordable so even though dog daycare may be a luxury, it is a fun one for our dog. She enjoys coming for the interaction with the other animals and since it's safe, it's a great option. Dog Wash Doggie Boarding and Daycare is a great place!
I just had my dog there last week for 2 days and today he has been seen by the vet for a dry cough that she said was indeed Kennel Cough. After calling and speaking with the manager at Paws she told me that she was not obligated to pay for his vet visit, there was no way he got it from Paws, and that I should be lucky for her to offer paying half of his vet visit. My dog is a 7 year old poodle, who is only around dogs when i take him out, her even offering to pay half speaks volumes on Paws' guilt and the other reviews on this site don't help her case. Please reconsider when boarding your pet at this place, the staff were nice to me but the manager is a filthy lying leach and reeks of it. The whole "there is no way your pet caught it here at Paws" but in reading other reviews proves she'll lie about anything. Also she said "PAWS is the only pet boarding facility who has never had to be shut down for Kennel Cough." Just because your failing company cant afford to shut down doesn't mean to brag about it. What a piece of work, that's one wax figure that's been melted to the core of lies and it shows. FYI I FOUND THIS PAGE DOING A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR : PAWS CHELSEA KENNEL COUGH. Enough said!
Don't sign any form with them, they will charge your card even if you ask them to not to do !!! They did this to me.At the beginning I was very impressed with the size of their facility and the fact they are very close to the park, and offered time spent in the dog the run. I bought a package for 12 sessions for my puppy. Soon, I started to experience their very poor costumer service. Although I had paid for their service, they tried to make me feel as if they were making me a huge favor. They rarely called me back, and asking them for pick up by the phone was not enough, they needed to be notified by e-mail. They behaved as an authority. I only used them when it was inevitable, to avoid the incredibly unpleasant experience to being in touch with them.
