Overall

Arbor Ridge Pet Clinic is great. My 4 guinea pigs and bunny saw Dr. Hook throughout their lives and he took wonderful care of them, including a few operations they needed. There was great follow up care and pain management. One of my favorite things is they have ultrasound, so you don't have to go to an ER, and in house lab, so you don't have to wait a couple of days for results, like some vets. I can't recommend Dr. Hook enough for bunnies and guinea pigs. Also, as a response to some other reviews, vets no longer treat your pet as a black box and send you home with medicine that may or may not work, with sometimes disastrous results. Instead, since they have ability to detect what's wrong through tests. They cost money, but you know you're getting the right treatment for your pet.

Overpriced! Dr. Hook was a goo...

Overpriced! Dr. Hook was a good doctor, but felt the need to recommend everything and anything $$$. I would go in for one simple thing and next thing I new a simple case of the "runs" turned in $500. It might be cancer (bloodwork), it might be a turned stomach(xrays), it might be....we need to test for this....we need to test for that....In the mean time I just looked at them and said hey, its the "runs" give him some antibiotics and let me get out of here. Maybe a good vet for the rich! Not for the aveage joe like me. I care about my dog very much, but I don't care for this vet trying to soak me dry $$$ for unneeded things.

So why only 1 star-----because I felt like I had been taken advantage of each time I went in there with my dog. It is a horrible feeling for anyone.

Dr. Hook may be a great vet, but this place is not worth taking your pet to if your not willing to spend min. $400 per visit, even for the simple things. Overpriced!!!!

First, I do want to say that if you have questions or concerns, please feel free to call us. Second, there is nothing that is not done at our practice without going over the possible causes the problem. In this "diarrhea", those possible causes are discussed with the owner and based on the signs and how well the dog looks, we recommend our work up OPTIONS. The client is NOT forced to do anything that they do not want to do. They are always, always given an estimate for any treatment or workup tests that they are recommended to do. The owner knows the cost ahead of time and can say yes or no to them. I understand that someone may be upset about spending money, but sometimes tests are needed to rule things in or out, but it is always the owners choice. If they do not want to do a work up, then they do not have to. I wish that you would have told us at the time, that you did not want to do any work up, that is your choice. But giving us a 1 star because we are a good veterinary hospital, but overcharged is an unfair assesment. It was your choice to do any testing that you did, no one guilted you into it. If this was human clinic, you would not question workup that would be ordered up, because health insurance covers it. Unfortunately it does not work the same way in veterinary medicine, but that does not make us a bad practice.

Excellent

I've been going to Arbor Ridge for several years. I've never been unhappy with the care my pets have received. When Dr. Hook bought the practice he brought with him a lot of positive attributes. The staff is amazing - they are friendly, knowledgeable and never make me feel like I'm just another client. My girlfriend's dog was recently quite sick and her vet was unable to give her any answers after 2 weeks worth of visits and a lot of x-rays and blood tests. In one visit at Arbor Ridge, we had not only an answer but medication to treat him. They were able to run bloodwork in the clinic and get us answers before we even left! Just a couple days after his visit, Max was doing great and obviously getting better! Not only am I extremely happy that he's doing so much better, but the cost for our visit there was just a fraction of what was already spent trying to find out why he was sick!

Small Scale Reptile Rescue

As you can see in the commercial, Dr. Hook and Staff are fully qualified to work with reptiles. They have no issues going the extra mile when needed. Our rescue has been a client of their since Dr. Hook purchased Arbor Ridge and we couldnt be happier. Arbor Ridge gets the Small Scale Reptile Rescue Seal of Approval! Thanks for supporting local rescue groups!

SUPER!

I recently became a client of Arbor Ridge. I had been Dr. Hook's client at another clinic. When he left that place, they told me he was no longer practicing. I'm sure glad I found him. I've never had another vet who could explain the health of my pet so clearly. Unfortunately, our last trip was a sad one. I had to put my cat of 17 years to sleep. It was a hard decision for me to make but I can't say enough about the support and respect I felt from Dr. Hook and his staff during this tough time.
