My search for a Chinese restaurant with a happy hour in the lounge as good as Louie's continues, but this isn't it. The service isn't quite good enough to be called adequate, and the food "deals" were uninspired. I had the Almond Fried Chicken--a fairly easy dish for any Chinese cook--with Pork Fried Rice. The chicken was bland, despite a nice hint of garlic in the gravy. The rice had a nice savor, with plenty of green onion in it, but it wasn't enough to make up for the chicken. At $6, I consider this an overcharged for what I got. Not enough taps, either.
China Harbor is located on the vibrant Lake Union. The restaurant portion is huge with average food. Great views of the marina. Good service, reasonably priced. The lounge attached to the restaurant is a fantastic dance place on Sunday nights with dance lessons and great DJ music dancing with all the preferred ballroom dances. Great place for couples and singles to to mix. Bear, wine, and liquor is reasonably priced. Parking is readily available. Good place to have dinner and then go dancing on Sunday evening.
I hadn't been here in a long time, but there were good reports about the happy hour, I was hungry and in the area, so I made the mistake of stopping in. The "happy hour" is pretty much a myth, and there was no sign of any waitstaff to seat me in the dining room. I seated myself in the lounge and checked the bar menu. The fullsome brunette waited on me fast enough, and checked back later. However, there was nothing I wanted to order that wasn't half the same price down at Louis's. Leaving now.
This restaurant (some may recall it many years earlier up on NW 85th) is a local institution. The Cantonese dishes, such as Almond-Fried Chicken or Shrimp in Lobster Sauce, are all excellent. My only regret is the lack of any Hunan or Fujien...so it seems a little bland by comparison. The Happy Hour in the lounge (M-F from 3 till 6) is good as well, with several excellent appetizers at half price. My favorite is the seafood potstickers, although the Sui Gow is also good.
We have Never had any service or food problems at the Pearl. We have been to a lot of chinese places and the Black Pearl has the Best BBQ pork anywhere. The food is Always served well and Great tasting. We usually go around 4pm, when they are not so many take-out or walk-in diners. If anyone knows of a Great chinese place in Portland, OR like the Black Pearl, then please let us know (firstname.lastname@example.org,or.us)
Short and sweet. Hands down the best Chinese food in the NW. Judy and her son Dave have created the best there is. Nothing is deep fried!!!!! Try the joiza... steamed dumplings. My kids can't get enough. Don't expect fancy waiters and all red interiors. This is a converted house, no extra frills, just the best you can get. Try rhe lunch, whole lot for your money.
I've been going to this place for 3years, it looks like your typical scary Asian restaurant On a strip mall, but it is a hidden treasure!! The rice is amazing and the food prepared fresh, the box is so full of food that the box barely closes! The girls that greet you are friendly and know who you are and your order after a few times of ordering. I highly recommend!!
This restaurant is clearly favored by Chinatown insiders. While it may seem a bit rundown, the dim sum is fresh and delicious. It is a special treat for us to go. We usually combine it with a trip to the Wing Luke museum. Perfect, hot dim sum with terrific flavor. The honey walnut prawns are a favorite. Also good are the sticky rice and most steamed items!
Enjoyed a delicious dinner tonight. A bit of a wait but after you check in you can leave to go shop. They call and text you when your table is ready. Everything was delicious and came out hot. Staff was great and the wait time after you placed your food was minimal. They have Located in University Village. Free parking.
I really love dim sum whenever I go especially if I knew to a place I will look for a restaurant like this. I'm grateful with Jade Garden Restaurant not just because it is very accessible their food is great and delicious. I will definitely come here everyday to eat dim sum..love this place!
