King Wok

Have been ordering from King Wok for over three years. The food has always been great and fresh. Wouldn't order from any other Chinese restaurant on the island. Delivery has always been quick and the owners are really nice folks.

I'm writing this fresh, this JUST happened. I live in an admittedly less than easy to find apartment. When I ordered, and spoke to a man whose English seemed spotty, i said explicitly where my apt was and where to find it. I got a phone call from the delivery woman, who, looking out my 2nd story window, was right below. I waved and pointed to the pathway that would lead her to my stairs. She began to get back into the van? A gentleman working in the business below me noticed the woman's confusion, again it's happened before when people try to deliver to my apt. He approached her, spoke to her, even pointed to the pathway which was DIRECTLY in front of where she parked the delivery van. She waved him off and drove away. Then, she drives around and parks in the backyard of the house on the other side of the block! Right on their lawn. I step out my door, again wave at her, indicate my stairway which she can plainly see now from her position. I guess she wanted me to come down, in my pajamas, in the rain, to PICK UP a DELIVERY order. When I didn't, she screamed something at me, got back in the van, and peeled off, ripping up my neighbor's lawn. I called the restaurant and asked to speak to a manager, then I believe I was passed off to a child of the owner's, whom I assume spoke the best english. I was told they were no longer delivering, that I could still come down and pick it up. I have no car, again it was raining. I would like to point out at no point did I raise my voice, use any inappropriate language, and even my comment earlier in this post about "speaking the best english" I sincerely mean in only its factual sense, not a condescending one. The lady was right there. I tried to help her, the man downstairs tried to help her. The delivery woman and the owners didn't try to help anyone. A communication barrier and I honestly believe racism, based on what I THINK the woman screamed at me, prevented a simple and NOTHING but helpful delivery order to now be sitting here hungry and absolutelyfloored.
