Car Accident Aftermath »
No matter whether an accident involved a freshly licensed teen or an experienced driver, knowing what to do (or not do) is essential to bouncing back.
No matter whether an accident involved a freshly licensed teen or an experienced driver, knowing what to do (or not do) is essential to bouncing back.
All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
It’s time to bring long sleeves and long pants out of storage, prep your home and car, and contact the cool weather home/yard contractors.
I left feeling very confident in my vehicle and well informed! After the "Check Engine" light appeared on my trailblazer, I had called several establishments. Barry's was referred to me by Ed's tires. A diagnostic costs $35, but is waived if the repairs exceed the $35 charge. There are shops that will charge a ridiculous amount for the diagnostic alone in addition to repairs and parts, etc. The mechanic, Chris, who worked on my vehicle also took the time to explain the code and it's function. Mine was an EVAP code that basically was triggered by running the engine while the gas cap was loose. Simple enough. Then he showed me how he ensured that everything was functioning correctly with the Emissions from the fuel by the stability of the pressure readings and the release process. I actually got to see for myself! This all took minutes. Then we address another issue that I had not originally come to shop, but figured that I'd have it looked at. Chris took his time to find out what was wrong with my horn (Which as quoted from other shops is a VERY EXPENSIVE repair). Chris discovered and fixed what was wrong with my horn all the while explaining what he was doing and why he was doing it and only charged me a small fraction of what it would have cost me at another shop. For the most part, Chris was very knowledgeable of his Craft and yet humble, not to mention the Integrity I witnessed from him. He would look up or ask questions in resolution of something he was unsure of or just didn't know. It was refreshing to me because he never left me uninformed. As a cherry on top of a well iced cake, he even fixed a very minor cosmetic issue at no cost to me. I will go back for my automotive needs and I would encourage others to check out Barry's Performance as well!
I visited this store about 3 weeks ago. It was the first time I had ever been in there. Although the store was smaller than I was expecting & didn't have a lot of name brands ( I really wasn't expecting them too, so it was in no way a disappointment), They had everything I went in looking for. I somehow was lucky enough to receive an ad. I got a ton of meat & a bunch of sale items, for about $65.00. I was completely impressed! The man in the meat department, I unfortunately didn't get his name, was out stocking items & very friendly & helpful. When I told him that it was my first time coming in the store, he proceeded to tell me all about the meat & the prices, which I had already spotted & had a cart full. He also told me about the pick 5 deal, which I probably never would have seen & I even got to get that deal & was pleased! Cashier was nice & friendly too! I'll definitely go there for all my meat & The pick 5 deals but the customer service I received from the meat dept. was exceptional & I have been telling everyone that I get a chance what a great experience I had.
We live on the other side of town, but saw this place online and thought we'd try it out tonight. I can not say enough good things about this place! I have never come home from a restaurant and immediately wrote a review, but this place is that good! The restaurant was really nice inside and had a great atmosphere. Our server Jeff was wonderful and we had such a great time. Everything is made in house and SO good! They have a meatloaf with italian sausage links cooked right into it and wrapped in bacon. I'm not even a fan of meatloaf and I tried my husband's and it was amazing! They offer a ton of unique sides like fried squash (which is delicious!) and have really large portions. Reasonably priced too, dinner entrees are about $15-$18 and they had a sign for daily lunch specials for $6. So happy I found this place, and will definitely be back! Highly recommend, you have to check this place out!

This store is convenient to the cliffdale/hollywood heights area and is patronized by mostly minorities. Most clerks are friendly but there is this one older guy I don't know if he's the owner or what but when I walk in I never see him. By the time I go to the back for a cold drink and start my way toward the casier, this guy is ALWAYS either on his way to come check on me or behind the counter rubbernecking. Its pretty unsettling, being that I'm a business proffesional and I'm nearly 40 years old. Sometimes without even trying,I catch him coming my way only to see him stop in his tracks to go back the opposite direction when he sees me coming. I can understand there are theives in this town but I hope they find a better way of going about watching people. Kinda makes you not want to frequent this place.GET IT TOGETHER!
I don't TRUST any other mechanic with my vehicles...Nathan's Auto Repair is a gem of a business! They don't do transmissions or wheel alignments; all the rest...they are the best. I never go back to the dealership after purchasing a vehicle; Nathan is the only doctor my vehicle knows (if they could truly know). I have been going to Nathan for 23 years! I recommend him highly. He will not cheat you nor will he talk down or over your head. He will discuss your vehicle with you when you go to pick it it. AND, the receptionist, Hilly, is the best receptionist I have ever encountered in my adult life! She is extremely busy everyday but she maintains the most cheerful attitude at all times! But, I have never heard while in the shop or by ear anyone say anything bad about Nathan's Auto. BEST AUTO REPAIR BUSINESS OF ALL TIMES!
Nathan is one of the few true mechanics still standing. He can diagnose problems almost by ear. I had a 1962 VW that sat in a driveway for 10 years and he had it up and running in a day! I have sent many people his way and none was disappointed. A great family run business with a fantastic, quality, service. These are knowledgeable and experienced people who can repair any car or honestly advise you where to take your problem (like transmissions). Auto repair places are known to cheat folks so if you find a trustworthy and honest mechanic for all your needs, it is a blessing. Nathan's Auto is the place! Ask anyone who has ever been a customer there and they will tell you. It's a darn good idea to have an appointment because people who use Nathan's do not go elsewhere - ever.
Talk about great service!! I researched Better Business Bureau (BBB) for repairs and found Nationwide Transmission. I made an appointment online and 10 minutes later, after store hours might I add, I received a phone call from the owner! I explained my situation and he went above and beyond to retrieve my vehicle. His transmission diagnostic test pinpointed where we needed to go. He does nothing without the consent of the customer after his FREE test. My money situation was the hold up on having my vehichle repaired and Blake explained he would do everything he could to help and that he did!! My car was fixed in no time and I cannot say enough how much I appreciated the great service! Thank you would be an understatement!
Been coming here since the 80's; hands down, best food with home-cooking taste at affordable prices. K & W is the favorite place to eat for senior citizens because of this. Employees are friendly, cafeteria is family friendly, and a lot of Christian folk frequent K & W. Workers are quick to clear/clean tables, and bathrooms are also clean. Dining areas are kept neat and clean, and atmosphere relaxing. There are certain times when you encounter long lines, such as after church, or Mother's Day, but it moves along without a long wait. This is just the best place to go in Fayetteville to get your dollars worth of tasty, yummy, food and friendly people.
My and family and I were on our to Fayetteville from Raleigh to visit relatives for the weekend and our tire blew out. I called Tow and Go and another company in the same zip code to get a quote on loosening lug nuts on our tire so we could put the spare on. Tow-N-Go had the best price and were able to meet us sooner than the other company. It was a Saturday morning in the pouring rain. Julius came out and helped us with our issue with a smile and was very polite and professional and eager to do what he could to help us out. I would highly recommend this company hands down!
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
