Just like the planning that went into your vacation, there is planning needed before boarding your pet. Here are some dos and don'ts to help make the process a little easier.
I DO NOT know where that lady who gave Collar and Leash a bad review is coming from but I think she's a little stuck up. I have been boarding my dog Taz which is a German Shepard/Chow mix for 10 yrs. First of all, my dog was never allowed to sit in his own feces and urine ever and never smelled when I took him home. As a matter of fact as soon as my dog goes to the bathroom outside the owner goes out there to clean it up right away. Also, if her dog was covered in feces and urine the kennel itself would smell and not in my ten years going to Collar and Leash have I smelled one bad smell. Second, Dan Raymond and his wife Sonja are the most kind, caring, and down to earth people. I haven't had one problem with this business or them. My dog LOVES to go here everytime we pull up he goes crazy wanting to get of my car. As soon as he sees Dan and Sonja he goes crazy with tail wagging and kisses. Dan and Sonja care so much about the animals that it is impossible that the accusations that the lady made are true. Collar and Leashes property is clean and very well kept up even in the winter. You walk into the office and it smells wonderful, always decorated for the holidays, nicely painted, and it has a very homey feel. When my dog is there Dan lets all the dogs out at least 5 times a day and the dogs have water ALL DAY LONG!! Dan feeds the dogs everyday and feeds more than enough. The grooming by Sonja is fantastic, the best that I've ever had, and there is not one hair that comes out of my dog when I come to pick him up. Not to mention the low prices, I pay 19.00 a day and I can also call and check up on my dog to see how he is doing, but I dont because I know that he is in great care. Another great thing you can also get a tour of the whole kennel facility nothing is hidden. When that lady said that about Collar and Leash I know it offended Dan and Sonja because all they do is give the greatest care, love, and attention to the dogs. Those comments also offended ME because I've been going there for so long. That lady must have been having a bad day and all I can say Collar and Leash is the best place to take your dog for grooming or boarding. I PRAY FOR EVERYBODY!!!! THANK YOU DAN AND SONJA FOR TEN WONDERFUL YEARS AND MORE!!!!!!!!!
After a negative incident with our old groomer, we decided to look for a new place to take our Yorkie for grooming. Central Bark had such good feedback, we gave them a shot and we're glad we did. Although this place seems does more than just grooming, we've only used them for grooming so this review only reflects that aspect. We've used Central Bark twice now and they do a really good job. Our Yorkie is very sensitive about having his paws/legs touched so trimming his nails can be a chore--to the point where our last groomer would not trim his nails half the time or do a bad job. At CB, trimming his nails has not been an issue. Also, he didn't act weird or reserved on our second trip so it looks like he doesn't fear this place. Grooming time has taken a couple hours, which is very acceptable--even quick by some standards. Pricing is higher than our last groomer but only by a bit and if our Yorkie is happier, it's definitely worth it. We look forward to returning again for future groomings and maybe even consider them for boarding when we need to travel out of state.
I recently boarded my dog over the Thanksgiving Holiday for a week here. The Owner and his wife were great Funny people who love animals. The facility was clean and smelled clean not just covered up by Sanitizer. They were hospitable and explained everything in detail including their hours of operation, vaccines, grooming (optional)and why the dogs are seperated from each other so they could have freedom of movement and not get accidently bitten by someone elses dog.I also took them up on the grooming services as My dog has a tendency to have accidents as he is 14 yrs young and they did a fabulous Job! He was Happy and jumping around like he was a 2yr old when I picked him up at 8am when they open as their hours are posted on the door, brochure and the website. My experience with them is a GREAT ONE and I will continue to go to them for all my grooming and Boarding needs.
We have been clients of Dog's Life for over 10 years and 2 generations of dogs. When they moved locations a number of years back, we were forced to look into daycare facilities closer to our commute route. We explored a handful of highly rated operations from small and simple to large and sophisticated...from modestly priced to very expensive. After a month or so we were back with Dog's Life. Our dogs received the best care there and for us, peace of mind is more important than a shorter drive. Most importantly though, our dogs are happy. To this day, they are eager and energetic when we drop them off in the morning and in great spirits when we pick them up at night. That is the only true test of a daycare facility. We have 2 very spoiled Great Danes and we are very particular about their care. Dog's Life is our choice for daycare.
This is a wonderful, safe, loving environment for any pet. This is the reason I only trust my beloved dog to them. It is so much easier to be gone away when you know that such caring people are taking care of your dog. You don't know the agony I've gone through trying one place after another in the city to find a lot of fighting amongst the animals, dogs getting screamed at all the time, getting squirted with water guns, it's not like that at all here at Dog's Life on Damen, they really care for the dogs. One time, I even saw a person drag a dog using his collar across the room at another place and I left there and never, ever returned again. They can't treat a dog that way and imagine that patrons will actually come back for more. Wow, thank God that doesn't happen here. Friendly, professional people are who you'll find here.
I've used them a couple times for boarding only and have had an amazing experience each time. Being able to watch the dogs on webcam is an amazing amenity. Also, I'd like to make a personal comment about their customer service. They have a late fee for last minute cancellations, which is totally acceptable. However, I had to cancel an appointment last minute because of a family emergency. I went into the location, told them about the situation, and they waived the fees/charges. This is a great reflection of the type of "good neighborhood" business that they are. I wasn't trying to cheat or short change them and they realized it and did the right thing. It's experiences like these that I trust them with my pet and as long as I live in the West Loop, I'll keep utilizing their services.
I have been taking my dog here since he was a puppy and he absolutely loves coming to A Dog's Life. The day care is under new management/ownership and have made a lot of improvements, such as extended hours! The best part about this place is that they really understand dog behavior and set up play groups based on age and temperament. They don't discriminate based on breed like a lot of other doggie day cares. The prices are also really reasonable and the dogs have a really good time. My dog is always nice and tired whenever I pick him up. The facility is not the prettiest out there but what matters is how well the dogs are taken care of and how knowledgeable/helpful the staff is. My dog and I both give them 5 stars!
Don't listen to the guy above! If he'd done a little training on his own no one would have to pull and yank his dog around! Jim KNOWS what he's doing and if your have a dog with behavioral then YOU mostlikely DON"T. I took my dog which has dog aggression issues over there and Jim straighten out my dog problem within minutes. He had to get tough with my dog because i haven't been doing it at all...He showed me how to deal with my dog and i saw immiediate improvements! I rather have my dog going trough tough training than having dog with fears and aggression- biting other dogs and people. I reccomend this place to anyone who wants his dog to be happy for life :)
I've had my dog groomed here twice. Now I'll admit, both times I used coupons, but I would definitely return and pay regular price. The first time I got her groomed, it only took about 2 hours. The second time, they had her all day -- literally (I dropped her off at 10:30 and got her at 6). I did, however, tell the groomer to take his time as I had a bunch of errands to run. The grooms are consistently good. She's super soft after her bath and her nails are trimmed. The last time she was groomed, I waited in the lobby for her to be finished. The groomer was careful when handling her (I could see through a window) and my dog seemed to be enjoying her grooming.
Central Bark Doggie Daycare is AWESOME!!!! The owner and staff are EXCELLENT caretakers of my LOVED ONE!!! They take care of the dogs as if they were their own. The customer service is Outstanding. They are be BEST choice in day care for your 4 legged child. I don't know what I would have done if it wasn't for the them. My puppy gets the best treatment, they make sure he has fun, is taken care of and the best of all is, he comes home tired!! Other than the daycare, they have boarding, grooming and to come in October training. I recommend Central Bark for the exceptional service and care of the dogs, the prices are reasonable.
