-I've been to the Timonium Establishment, which moved into my favorite-of-all-time restaurent, ""Steak and Ale,"" who if you go out to the Timonium area, probably have heard of it.
-So, last summer we decided to check out Basta Pasta, and even though everything was perfect and the service was fantastic, and the staff were very polite, I still found their food to be ""okay,"" but not the THIS IS THE GREATEST FOOD OF MY ENTIRE LIFE THAT I WANT TO EVERY SINGLE DAY.
-The chef's definetely deserves a praise on the homemade foods and entreee portions.
-I will definetely give another shot at Basta Pasta this week!

I called Basta Pasta's Timonium location on a Saturday afternoon to make reservations for that evening. They told me it was first come, first served and we couldn't make reservations. I asked if there is usually a wait around 5:45 because I have small children and we didn't want to wait. The woman on the phone said that there wouldn't be a wait as long as we were flexible about where we were seated. We showed up at 5:45 and were told there would not be a table for us because they had many reservations coming in at 6pm. I told the hostess that we were told we couldn't make reservations. She said they do take reservations and I urged her to talk to the person who talked to me on the phone because that person never told me they were already full - she said they don't take reservations and that it's first come, first served. The person who took my phone call that afternoon came out and the owner came out to talk to us and she lied right in front of the owner. We ended up going to another restaurant and will never go back to Basta Pasta because of their terrible customer service. I don't recommend the restaurant - you will be disappointed if you are treated the same way we were.

We went to Basta Pasta on a friend's recommendation - - and an underestimated recommendation it was. We were promptly greeted at the door, asked for preference of seating, and immediately shown to our table. Ambiance was very nice, service was excellant and the food was superlative. We refer to a meal at the Basta Pasta as a ""two-fer"". The portions are so large, you have to take some home and have a second meal.
The Italian menu of homemade pasta dishes, bread, and dessert is excellent. We've had parties of two up to ten and never had a bad moment or lack of service and attentiveness. Highly recommend Basta Pasta for an excellent evening of food and drink.
Generally, we find little difference between their lunch and dinner portions. Their soup and salad is outstanding.
