Overall
Bistro Pasargad

So I went to bistro Pasargad with my boyfriend. His friend recommended the place to us. The place looks absolutely gorgeous. And I loved the music that was playing in the background with the sound of the water. The sits were so comfortable. I think the food is the best one in this area (kabobs). The only thing I didn’t like about the place was the waiter. She didn’t know anything about the food and when we asked her questions she wasn’t able to answer any of them. Not to mention we had a hard time hearing her, because she wasn’t speaking loud enough.

IT’S A GREAT KABOB PLACE AND YOU WILL ENJOY THE ENVIROMENT AND THE FOOD

Overall
Sorry, the food was just ordinary

Great decor and good service I must say. The walls, the central water fountain, the beautiful music and even the mosaic floor are something to see. One almost expected a costumed major-domo to welcome us but we were quite happy with the well dressed and well spoken head-waiter.

We first ordered the Persian tea and the Paneer Sabzi, marinated feta cheese with vegetables. The tea turned out to be ordinary tea and the marinated cheese tasted just just like it looked, a lump of cheese on a bed of regular vegetables.

Our main courses, the lamb kebab and Jujeh (grilled Cornish Hen) tasted very, very bland. Believe me, the couple next to us were busy shaking salt and pepper on to their course. The grilled lamb smelled strongly of raw meat. A good restaurant has to be careful about the dangers of preparing lamb meat, being a very difficult dish to prepare. The Jujeh (grilled Cornish hen) not only was tasteless, it did not even have any aroma - and the menu promised me much, much more.

I was surprised by the huge amount of rice served, as if to make up for the small number of pieces of meat next to it. It would have been so much if they had served a quarter of the rice with jafran (saffron) that is actually perceptable, not just some yellow colouring. That tiny slab of butter would have then covered the rice. We left most our food uneaten.

The head-waiter realised something was amiss and he stopped us on our way out to ask if there was anything wrong - I appreciate the fact that he was concerned. After I told him politely that we did not enjoy the food, he told us he was sorry and that we could have the next meal at the Pasargad free of charge.

Still, I will return to see if there indeed is something better to eat (don't worry, I will insist on paying, i.e., if the head-waiter recognizes me).
