As I walked in Holy Dog, an older small blonde women, who was clearly in charge, said in a rude voice, "Who's this?" There was never a, "Hello!" or "How can we help you?" Not until I picked up my dog did I find out that this women was the owner! An employee came at my dog quickly and abruptly, head-on, & attempted to place a noose leash around her without giving any greeting of any kind. (Shouldn’t you talk to a dog and extend a hand to let the dog smell you prior to doing something to it?) As I was filling out the paper work, the owner was speaking so rude to her employees. But when a favorite frequent customer came in the door, the owner was so nice to them. I offered to move aside. The owner replied, "No. That's okay. This dog has manners." implying that mine didn't. I packed zip-locks for each meal that contain the correct amount of kibble as well as her medicine in a pill pocket. So, all they have to do is dump the food in the bowl. The owner saw my bags and curtly told me that I couldn't do that. I apologized and said that I had been there two times prior and no one had mentioned it. The owner demanded the kibble to be put all together and removed from the small premeasured meal ready zip-lock bags. I was so frustrated by this time, I told the owner that if my dog had another place to go and I didn't have to catch a plane, I would take her and leave right then! When I went to pick up my dog, I was greeted by a very nice Holy Dog employee. The owner was not present! I received a half galloon bag full of kibble back. This means that my dog was not fed enough. If the owner would have let the premeasured zip-lock bags of kibble and medicine remain, my dog would have received all of her food. The polite Holy Dog worker apologized and said that she would have the owner call me. I told her not to bother because it was the owner that ordered all of my dog's food to be placed in one bag and it was the owner who provided the VERY poor customer service.

I used HD to kennel my GSD when moving to Fairbanks. Dakota was there for 3 weeks. When I arrived to pick her up I was informed she was not once socialized with other dogs and the wash I paid for was poor at best. She smelled and was soaked. When I questioned this I was told they were very busy, she would overheat if she was dried (never before in 4 years has that taken place) and finally that she would sit when being washed so it was her fault. I am extremely disappointed as HD had been recommended by a couple people. Beware if your are expecting good treatment or service. Will not use again or recommend to others.
I have been using them for 5 years. My dogs are happy and healthy. They love it, So do I. Roxanne hires good people and they care about the animals.
Come for a tour!! We like to show people what we are about!! answer any questions, MEET US!! SEE OUR FACILITY!! I guarantee that the bottom reviews are unfortunate but absolutely not true! If there ever was a problem we would want to address it immediately as we take our job seriously!! We rarely are ever -50 and we have never walked a small dog or forced ANY dog to do something like that! All guests are on a written down potty schedule and go out 4-6 times a day... We do 2 times a day physical inspections of each dog and multiple loves and treats!!
I wae there. The dogs were over housed. Small dogs were forced on half mile walks in -50. I was bit and the owner said "what do you want me to do about it?"
We took our dog to Holy Dog to say for one full day and two half days. She came back in terrible condition. Her elbows were all scraped up (bloody and weepy). Her knee was swelled up; it had a big lump on it. And she stank of urine. She is a Newfoundland with a huge bladder. She can go for a whole 8 hour work-day without peeing if necessary. There is absolutely no reason why a five-year-old house-broken dog should come back from a two day stay at a kennel smelling of urine. We had to give her a bath immediately upon getting her home, and she still smells. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO HOLY DOG. I don't know what they did to her, but she should never have come back in such terrible condition!!!!!!!
We dropped our puppy off with a month and a half supply of dog food, his bed (with a removable cover) and many toys and bones. I was shocked at the sight of our dog when we picked him up. He was soaked with urine and had feces all over his coat. They had poor accountability of our dog and his things. He was far too thin, his hip bones and ribs were all visible, and he ate his food as if he were starving for the first week he was home. There was no excuse for we provided more than enough food and were sent home with the extra. We were given excuses by the owner of Holy Dog as to why they could not produce his toys, and why they had not washed his bed. Our dog bed was covered in his own excrement. His condition and the condition of his bed leads us to believe that our dog was subjected to these unhealthy conditions during his entire stay at Holy Dog. It would be our advice to find a better kennel with better care and more caring staff.
