I contracted Barry Smith Construction (BSC) to remodel my bathroom, including bathtub, toilet, and flooring replacement. I signed the contract mid-December, with verbal promises of being done by Christmas. My contract had a stipulation that work would be complete within 28 days of project start. I paid about 50% ($5,000) before any construction work happened. They made numerous delays, tried to pass repaired material off as new, lied to me, weren't aware of building codes, changed prices on me several times, and were unprofessional in every regard. Our relationship ended when he quit, 3 months after the project was supposed to have been finished. They promised to come after me for more money if I attended contractually-obligated mediation, so I chose to walk away with a loss and no bathroom. This was an expensive waste of time. Look for my other review on yelp, it has more detail due to a greater word limit.
Dane Grytness and The Land Man staff were great to work with! I was very unsure of what I wanted to buy, but Dane worked with me around my busy work schedule to show me properties until I began to understand what I was looking for. When I found properties I really liked, Dane worked quickly to put together competitive offers, and when I found my dream home, his work on the offer made both the seller and myself very happy. Dane has great communication skills, is very professional, and has keen intuition. Kyla Tripoli also shared her expertise and time, which was so valuable and greatly appreciated. I highly recommend Dane Grytness and The Land Man office!
Proprietor is friendly and knowledgeable and provided a fast and professional installation of my new Solatube. The additional the light in my bathroom and adjoining hallway is fantastic.
Extremely unprofessional.I have waited three (3) weeks and have received NOTHING from Barry Smith except empty promises. He has not once delivered what he said he would in a timely manner. When I queried him he was antagonistic with me and explained to me how busy and important he was. I was not impressed.Three weeks for an estimate of repairs that I still have not received. One of his estimators, Heather, told me today that she would have a "firm ball-park estimate" within 48 hours. What is a firm ball-park estimate? Another of the broken promises was that I was to have the estimate of repairs today.Again, not impressed.
Barry Smith is not a professional; he does not work for you he does for himself. He is not truthful in his advertising; he showed no craftsmanship, care, or dependability and of course he did not exceed our expectations. This project was a nightmare form the start. We thought it was clear that we wanted no changes on front of house and in final contract he sneaks in changes to two front room windows. Floors were dented, lamp shade broken, shutters broken, paint job was a complete disaster, and windows were defective. The entire job was done with no supervision. He was going to change one of the windows and redo the paint job around all windows; but we ended dismissing him after he took no responsibility for problem on windows. We had to arrange with window manufacturer to come and fix, which they did in a professional way. We have asked for money back to finish his job, and fix damages, window receipts, and copy of permit; he has totally ignored our request. He did send a final letter accepting his dismiss and the withholding of final payment which was $1,300.00, not enough to cover his mess. Barry Smith charged and exorbitant amount for quality work he did not performed.MSMLRT
Barry Smith has done work for me several times. I have always found him to be very prompt, fair and fast. His work has always beat my expectations. I would have him do work for me and my customers again.I have never been over charged, in fact I asked him once "How can you do it so low?' He said I can would you like to pay more? He and I both laughed...
