I have searched high and low with my wife to find the best cheese store in Eugene.
We've been too New Frontier, Sundance, Redbarn, and Market of Choice to find that if your main goal is to find cheese this is the place you want to go.
I do believe that Market of Choice has MORE cheese than Kiva, BUT in my opinion its not a very eclectic selection.
Kiva's cheese selection maybe smaller however it has more daring choices. I'm of Welsh decent and was excited to find that they actually have cheese's from Wales. Irish and English will be happy to know they have their cheeses too.
I'm a huge ""Blue Cheese"" fan and I must say that Kiva's selection on them is bigger than Market of Choice.
Pre-packaged cheeses like Munster and swiss is reasonable. Winco sells Munster for much more than Kiva so I don't know what the other guy was talking about.
This isn't a place to get your full line of groceries I must admit but its the best place in Eugene to get your cheese.
(NOTE: They also have essential oils to make your own perfumes / soaps also their ""bulk"" spices are the best I've seen....so far. Comparable to ""Limbo"" in Portland.)
The Kiva has a decent selection of natural foods and is located downtown, quite conveniently near the library and bus station. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the store is TINY and cluttered and the prices are really high compared to similar markets in town. So, it's a good place to pick some food up while downtown, but I wouldn't suggest stocking up there.
