Escondido means "hidden." The city, hidden by a number of rolling hills, mountains, and valleys, also has other best kept secrets known only to the locals, one of which is the charming little coffee joint, The Blue Mug. Independent coffee shops seem to be losing some of their affluence as a "relax and unwind" spot for mostly the hipster / bohemian crowd. They've been run over by the innumerable Starbucks sprouting all over the city like daisies in spring. However, The Blue Mug retains its charm point and stands out easily against a backdrop of Starbucks'. It's all about the coffee - tasty, decadent, and brewed before your eyes. The flavors can be trusted to be matched up perfectly as it's not like a company that transfers and switches employees left and right. Here at The Blue Mug the staff usually consist of the same faces so it's an assurance to know that the coffee will be brewed and mixed just the way you like it. The Blue Mug has its own unique taste and is worth visiting simply for the fact that it produces a taste that no one else can do. This is a practice that should be applied to all coffee shops, and it's refreshing that The Blue Mug holds this in their standards. The coffee shop, much to its name's delight, features outputting array of blue items, including a blue velvet couch tucked firmly near the entrance. It features wireless internet connections, and a friendly atmosphere to converse in. For those looking for a place in Escondido to rewind and maybe a refreshing taste of that old, untampered coffee recipe, The Blue Mug just might be the place awaiting you.
Patty at the Good Feet store was so helpful to me. I had horable pain in my feet and knee. I thought I tried everything..custom supports..special shoes..all of it. My next option was surgery. She made sure I felt great by checking on me in the first few weeks. On top of that Good Feets have a warrenty for life! Thank You Patty and Good Feet. I will be sending people your way!
Shoen Sushi is delightful. Their service is very attentive and the owner's wife remembers you from the last time. Setting us up with ice tea as we sit down. The sushi is fresh and good with a very nice selection to chose from. No as crowded as some being in a small shopping area. This has become our once a week sushi stop.
Not only great coffee but you don't have to leave your car on the dark, cold mornings on your way to work. Drive thru and order. Start the day without hassle, just good coffee.
They brew each cup individually, so it's always fresh (never old or stale), which is #1 in my book. In addition, they serve pastries and such. Give it a try!
I went and got a coffee today. It was delicious, but the berry coffee cake was fantastic less than two dollars. I guess it went on special afternoon.
We all know what to expect from Starbucks -- many flavors and types to choose from. This particular Starbucks also has great employees working there.
