Purchased 2 handguns (vp9 and ruger american ) we had great customer service and enjoy the range area, accessories are limited but it's a smaller shop.
The store clerk told me I had to unload my sidearm once I got downstairs to the range because steel cased ammo is not allowed there. We never got asked if this was our first time using their range, or if we were familiar with their range. We just took the ammo they provided and walked down the stairs to "down there." Once "downstairs" I stepped up to the nice bench/counter that looked like a gun clearing, eye, ear protection prep station and started to unload my weapon (as instructed by the upstairs clerk) and another employee yelled at me to stop and kicked us out for withdrawing a loaded firearm. I can't recommend a business where the downstairs does not know what the upstairs is doing.
I went with my family and was treated way better than bass pro shop and other places I had gone to.. We had a good time and will continue to go back.. I wish they had a bigger selection of handguns

Provided by CitysearchBoth my brother and I have purchased firearms and used the range at the Shootist. Overall, both of us have been well pleased with our purchases and have been well treated. The gun knowledge of some of the staff is not exactly 'encyclopedic', but if you are willing to do you own homework about the firearms that you are interested in, you can find better than average value there. Bottom line: good folks and good deals.

Provided by CitysearchYes, this is a pretty good shop, but the praise spewing out of the face holes of the last reviewers seems to consistantly outstanding. I dunno if I go there on customer neglection day or what, but most of the time I feel un wanted in the place.
Plus the fact the reviews talk sh*t about firing line raises flags for me.

Provided by Citysearch1st off I am a new gun owner.I bought my 1st 2 guns (9mm, then a .45 from shootist pistol)within the last 3 weeks.I looked at several shops in Denver, but the shootist range staff was by far the most helpful. My girlfriend and I have only been to two ranges so far (firing line) but the shootist pistol range just feels right. As rookies, we felt very safe and comfortable there. I've found the staff to be very helpful, and even the fellow shooters are down to offer tips advice.

We took a firearms safety course to start the evening followed up with a terrific shooting session down on the range.
The range was clean, well supervised and the staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful.
IMHO, the Shootist is well worth a visit!

Provided by CitysearchFirst off I was unsure of going to any more gun ranges. After our horrible experiences, at the Firing Line in Aurora Colorado We were pleasantly surprised, by the welcoming environment. You are greeted with when you arrive at the sootiest pistol range/Gun store. This is a family run business that is run with the right attitude. Usually no wait time to go down to the gun range. The 1st visit to the Shootist I made a purchase of a nice used Browning high power .40 S/W which was priced right. The nice people here have never had an attitude other than a positive one. A attitude that they appreciate your business. We go here almost every weekend, and today was no different than any other time. The gentleman acting as the range master inquired with me twice if we need anything, or any help. 3 of us were placed on 1 lane, but the Range Master quickly let us use too lanes something we never got form the FIRING LINE other then there PO attitude. The 3 of us were always charged full rate, and stuck on one lane at the Firing line. 20 S. POTOMAC and never asked if we needed anything. For a fun and hassle free place to go this is the place I would recommend. Rate as 5 star. If you want a good range experience go to the Shootist pistol range at 2980 Galapago is a family owned range that is well lit and heated.

Provided by CitysearchI discovered this gem of a gun store about 16 months ago after moving here from LaLa land. To date, they have been friendly, knowledgeable, and have competitive prices with the other surrounding gun stores. Their range has 10 booths, is well lit, and nicely ventilated, which is somewhat of a rare occurence, for an indoor range! Believe me, I've looked and shot at 5 of the other ranges and they could all take a lesson from this family owned and operated business!

Provided by CitysearchI discovered The Shootist earlier this year while completing a CCW course. They have an excellent indoor range and I have always felt safe there when shooting, not always the case with many indoor ranges I have used in the past. They have competitive prices on their guns and probably the friendliest staff in Denver. As mentioned above, this is a family owned, run business with great customer service.
The only complaint, and a minor one, is that there is not a gunsmith on sight, but I have always been able to work my problems with the staff.
Give these good folks a try if you are looking for a gun shop.

Provided by CitysearchHave gone here for years. Great range to use for training, fun and practice. Have bought supplies which are dependable and safe. Have also bought guns here. If they don,t have it, they can get it. Orders are here promply with no hang ups. They make things as simple as possible. Great knowledge of their products. Best place in town in my opinion. Very fair with their prices. Give them a try, I am sure you will have a great time!

Provided by CitysearchThis place has plenty of lanes. Even on a busy Saturday when they're packed, I've had to wait 20 minutes at the most. There are a few things to check out in their store, and the prices are fair. They offer a few classes like Hunter's Safety, and Concealed Weapons. They rent some popular models, and have plenty of friendly advice. Try them out, and drop some rounds, you'll have a good time.
