No matter whether an accident involved a freshly licensed teen or an experienced driver, knowing what to do (or not do) is essential to bouncing back.
All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
It’s time to bring long sleeves and long pants out of storage, prep your home and car, and contact the cool weather home/yard contractors.
Took my 2004 Jeep Liberty, giving me fits with overheating and ac not working, into Target Auto on Jeff Cohen's reputation alone. We live 30 miles away in Coral Springs. We were not disappointed. You receive a very friendly greeting, as you step out of the car and although I stopped by on my way home from work (just before 5pm) I never felt as if I was putting anyone out or delaying their exit home. Jeff was very friendly and helpful and we agreed I would bring the Jeep back the next morning. The next morning we completed the paperwork and I left to take my family to breakfast, before breakfast was finished, Jeff callled me to let me know what he had found and let me know he had emailed me the written estimate (how much better can this get). We stopped back by the shop to sign off on the work and Jeff showed us what was wrong and needed to be done (who does that anymore) and then we signed off on the necessary work and left agreeing it should be done by end of business on Friday (this was Wednesday). You can imagine my pleasant surprise when on Thursday, early afternoon, Jeff called to say the car was ready to be picked up. When we came in to pick it up, Jeff showed us the parts that had been removed (when was the last time you experienced this, even when you ask other shops rarely do it). Everything was just as Jeff had said it would be, the invoice price correct and car runs great. You cannot ask for better service, attitude and repairs. I will have to move much, much farther away before I ever use another auto repair shop. Jeff and his team at Target Auto are the best, you would be foolish to go anywhere else.
Hollywood Kia,The No Pressure,Friendly Car Buying Experience I stopped in to see what the Kia Optima's looked like, was walking around looking, meet up with Alex Phylactou ,right away I told him I wasn just there to look around see what the Kia optima was all about , He was very friendly and approachable without feeling he would be waiting to pounce at any hint of my buying, he answered all my questions, allowed me the freedom to feel like I wasn't going to be pressured, after I looked around I told him what i liked and would he see what it would take to lease a peticular car, He had me feel out a credit app, and I left, he called me back said thec ar I was interested in was sold, but he was searching for another, called me back about a week later, and I made an appointment to see him, when I arrived I looked at the cars again, but was surprised at the small difference betwen the Optima lease and the Cradenza lease, so I got the Cardenza instead after some fun haggling and they worked hard to get me where I felt comfortable, all the while I never felt pressured to buy now, when I said I would sleep on it , they didn't mind, but at tha point I decided to go for it, and I was out the door in about 30 minutes with my new Cradenza. I gotta say Alex was friendly, warm, and very professional and never carsalemen cheesey with me from the beginning to the end, so I was delighted to get my price and get the deal done with Alex, truly an asset to the Hollywood Kia group. The Best Sales man I have ever came in contact with My name is Kevin Lopez, I came into Hollywood Kia because I wanted a new car. Randy F. made me feel at home, he broke down every statistic about the car and had the best knowledge about any car on the lot used and new. I felt comfortable speaking with someone that knew what they were talking about. I ended up not qualifying for the Optima that I wanted but Randy F. made sure that I went home happy, he made sure that I left with a car I could smile about. He made sure that he could get me into the payments that I needed without putting money down, and he fought with the banks to make sure I was satisfied. We searched every car on lot even in the rain, he said he wanted to do his best to give back because at one time in his life he has been there. My wife was comfortable and satisfied, Randy Flores got me into a 2011 Ford Fusion with 40,000 miles for a low price and my target payment, with no money down and just my car as a down payment. Randy is the type of salesman you want. As an Army Veteran I salute him for making this difficult process easy. He took about 1hr and the staff was pleasant and respectful. Without Randy, I would have been stuck. Thank you Randy Flores for giving back and being a true salesman for the people.
You will never find someone else who can get the job done so quickly, inexpensively, and with no bull or run-arounds. I have taken my two cars (one muscle car with performance aftermarket parts), and my three and a half year old Jag to SuperDaves on a couple of occasions for some work. Dave was able to locate parts that even the dealers said they couldn't get. Not only did he find them, he had them shipped to his shop within 48 hours. Once in his possession, the work was completed that day. Thatsshow he is. I've never met an auto mechanic who actually gets excited and intrugued the more complex or mysterious an issue appears to be. He is a wiz at troubleshooting. Daves approach is no nonsense. He has always been straight up with his assessments letting me know how much the parts/work will be before proceeding with any of the work. I imagine some people might not be used to his straight forward approach, but its refreshing and time saving. I only wish dealerships could be the same way.... but I won't hold my breath on that one! He always has the best Prices.... and is fast. I use his shop for basic oil changes to more complicated issues that most dealsership don't even want to touch. 5 Stars to Super Daves!!
Target Auto Repairs is not a fancy place, but a clean, organized and trustworthy place to bring your car for any type of service. No bull, just straight forward answers from the owner Mr. Jeff Cohen, who has been there for many years. He owns the building where his repair shop is located so he is going nowhere on you. But most important, after he gives me the best price possible, obviously he needs to make expenses and make a living, Mr. Cohen is always there, either supervising the work to make certain it is done correctly, or doing the work himself. He is just a very nice gentleman, very professional, respectful, knowledgeable and caring. While I was there last time a few days ago, waiting for my car, a man walked in to pick up his car after the work was done and Mr. Cohen told the man that the price he had given him for the repair was a little bit less than the estimated price. The man said wow great, Thank you. That action again, confirms what I always thought of Mr. Cohen, very fair, very trustworthy, just a nice family man, which happens to treat his customers as his own kids. Thank you Mr. Cohen for keeping my car in great repair at a great price always. Respectfully, Carlos Gutierrez.
This was my first experience at Hollywood Kia, and at any Kia for that matter. I had reservations when setting foot onto the lot, but they were quickly resolved. Isaac Smith was my salesman and did a phenomenal job assisting me in my lease. He was very attentive and accommodating with all of my wishes, and perhaps you may call some demands. Through all of his running around to ensure I was a happy customer, he never once treated me any different from the second I met him. He continued to be happy, bubbly, and super helpful. I do recommend you ask for him by name when you go there! If you're looking to meet and chat with an exuberant personality while waiting for everything to process, be sure to ask for Mr. Love! And the man that ensures you're a happy customer is Arthur. Thanks Arthur-you're the best! :-) The individuals that I worked with to secure my newest lease made my experience enjoyable and memorable. It was a unique experience, and I am very pleased with my service. If you're in the market for a Kia (which I wasn't sure I was before I got there!), there's only one place to go-Hollywood Kia!
This was my first time buying/leasing a new car. The car was for my wife who wanted a new kia optima. She was looking for only a white model with just a few features nothing fancy. She wanted a lease so we shopped around and to a few different dealers. I found the car she wanted at Hollywood kia. When I arrived they had many different models to choose from. The salesman Ricky approached me and we started discussing what I was looking for. I told him the price I wanted to be and that was that he got me the price I wanted. I felt completely comfortable the whole time which sometimes isn't an easy thing when buying a car. Ricky never pressured me or tried to sell me anything more than what I wanted. The process took some time but it was not Ricky's fault. The dealer can get busy at times so depending on what time you go there can be a wait. The car was cleaned up very nice and the gas was filled up and I was offered free oil changes as we'll. Overall a good experience thanks to Ricky who did a great job.
Great Prices & Great Service For the past couple of months my husband and I have been considering purchasing a car. We believed that getting a used car would be ideal, so a close friend recommended that we stop by Hollywood Kia, he said the selection was great and that their new cars had a great price range. We stopped by a few weeks ago and a young man named Jonathan Chavez assisted us. He asked what we had in mind and we explained that we though a used car would be the best thing because of pricing. He showed us great options on used cars, but he explained that we could get a brand new Kia for something very close to our price range and he assured us we would love it. We took a look around at a few models and sure enough I am now a proud owner of a Kia Forte and I couldn't be happier. Jonathan was so helpful and he spoke Spanish which is great because my husband's English is not the best. I definitely recommend Hollywood Kia to any car shopper out there.
They came to where my dead car was for cheaper than a jump from another shop!! And very reasonable rate! Thanks so much Jeff! I work in downtown Fort Lauderdale and will refer all of my co-workers and friends to your company and your quick, knowledgable and courteous service. Thankfully I didn't have to rely on my former boyfriend to help me with my auto repair needs! I have not been in the car market for years so the total experience is a scarey experince overall, but I must say buying a car at Hollywood Kia was one of the best shopping experiences I have had. My sales person was Garfield and from the first day I came to look around he was very helpful and courteous to me and listen to all i desired in my car shopping experince. The first day I went i was just looking not sure what i wanted in a car or if i even wanted a Kia, but after driving it i was sole but I had to think about it Garfield gave me his card as I said i need to think about it he did not hassle me nor make me feel like I waisted his time. I came back on 12/6/14 to actually buy the car and I have never felt so welcomed and at home my finance guy was the best finance guy i ever dealt with as well very personable and accomadating those two guys made my experience great. Thank you
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
