I work nights and shop on my way home at about 7 AM. I get to the check-out lane with a full cart and find there is only one lane open. (The self-checkout lanes don't open till 8 AM.) This happens consistently. Problem is I'm loading my groceries onto the belt and invariably 2-3 other people come up to wait in line behind me. This early, most people only have 1-2 items. They see me unloading a full cart and I can't help but let them get in front of me. Eventually, I have to draw the line or I'll never get out of there. The guy behind me who doesn't get to jump ahead doesn't know I just let 2-3 others go ahead, so he's just standing there giving me dirty looks. I'm going to drive a bit out of my way the next couple of shopping trips and see if the competitors are any better.
I have been shopping at Giant for many years. I recently moved to the Ellicott City area and began shopping at the Dorsey Search Giant Food. I was amazed at how much more friendly the staff are here than at my old Giant. I am very pleased with the service that I got from them. I asked a young man named Jake to help me find pumpkin for a pie. He immediately dropped what he was doing and assisted me, even taking the item and checking the price. At the checkout, I realized that one of my eggs was broken. A man named Richard was the cashier and he was nice enough to ask a worker to take my eggs back and exchange them before I was finished checking out. This kind of customer service is not usually found anymore. Very pleased!
I have been to Turkish Market today (2/17/2013) requesting for 2LB of Ground Goat Meat and I was forced to take 3.28 LB of Ground Goat with limbs. All the cutting was done without asking me or letting me know that it would cost me $20+. When I confronted about the price and said, I just need 2LB and was said that I have to take 3LB or pay $20+ even for a 2LB. This is ridiculous and the worst customer service I have ever received in the recent past. One of the regular is lost and I'm for sure the business lost at least 7 other customers because of the team's inappropriate behavior.
