We cancelled our membership due to relocation, we're up to date on all payments but they continue to charge after cancelation for 40 days. That is ridiculous and slimy. Due to their business practices, we can't recommend them. We used to recommend them to others in our neighborhood but no more! BTW, many of the machines are in bad shape as well, but that is another issue and the place needs paint and cleaning.
Mike Briseno, the manager of NY Fitness, told me "I don't run my gym on principles," when I cancelled my FOUR unused memberships after paying for an entire year. He charged me for an additional month and I am disputing this charge. I acted in good faith paying for 1 year, however, he did not return the favor, and charged my account $40 again the month after I quit. He lied to me by saying only the billing company could make that determination (they can't) and accused me of yelling at him on the phone when in reality he just didn't like what he was hearing--the TRUTH. Please pass the word along that NY Fitness in Elizabethtown, Palmyra and Lebanon do not run on principles-like honest business practices or good customer service.
There are many bad reviews that are warranted on YELP and Better Business Bureau's websites. Read them and TAKE HEED!!!!
I have been a member of this gym since the first day they have opened. Recently I had the manger act in the most unprofessional manner I have ever experienced. She not only got in my face and told me she doesnt need me as a member but also threatened that she is going to punch me in the face. I will never ever give them business again with someone acting so unprofessional. I would never recommend this gym to anyone. On top of it all, I am not the first person that she has treated in this manner
Don't join this club if you expect any kind of customer service. I know 9 out of 10 times you just go in and use the gym, but if you ever have a problem you will never be able to get in contact with anyone (i.e. the owner) to get things resolved. The people behind the desk will do nothing but tell you what they have been told to say. I had a mess with my credit card when someone attempted to use my # for an online purchase. I forgot it was the # for my auto payment at the gym. The morning my payment was to be taken out I went in to tell them. (this was after I had called the evening before to explain and they said I'd have to come in to take care of it) They said it was too late. An attempt for payment was made and now I would have to pay the "insufficient funds" fee. Really? They could have called and had the charge dropped, but instead I was treated like a deadbeat trying to get out of paying my gym membership. I tried several times to send emails with questions about my membership with no response. If they had responded to my inquiries or helped in any way I would not be writing this review. I'm going back to the gym down the street where the owner is right there.
