RO Givens Signs is a family owned business started in 1947 by Robert O. Givens Sr. and his wife Carolyn Scott Givens. Robert was a native of Florence, Alabama and was stationed at Elizabeth City Coast Guard Base when he met Carolyn, a native of Elizabeth City. He started as a small commercial sign shop at his home, lettering local business vehicles and business signs. As the business grew he built a sign shop next to his home and began building and painting billboards in the surrounding counties.This business has now grown to having billboards located in 12 counties in northeastern North Carolina. Mr. Givens Sr. died in 1991 at the age of 66 but the business is now run by his six children and employs some of his grandchildren as well. It is still located in the original location, Elizabeth City on Parsonage Street where it all began. We also offer services such as vehicle lettering, business ID signs and any other personal or commercial signs.
