I had an appointment with the Chef and owner, Janet rojo, on Thursday 7/25/18 to discuss menu options for a bridal shower, after my choices, she was supposed to get back to me, I was also to send her a copy of the bridal invite to get the color for the tablecloths. Saturday came, and I still not heard from her, then I remember I had not sent the pic of the invite, so I sent it. She replied it was a nice invitation and will be sending me the quote. Today is 8/3/18 and she never sent the quote, the event is 8/11 and at the time of our meeting, she told me she was open for that day. When she asked me what was my budget, I told her a $1000.00 for 25 or 30 people. I thought, I had found a great service, she was going to do the food, fine tables & chairs and servers, and if I had to pay a little more, I would consider it, after all a big load was being lift off my shoulders. The problem is that even though I had contacted her, she never sent a quote and that I found very unprofessional, the least she could have done is tell me she couldn't do it.Needless is to say I had to find somebody else.
The tastiest Iranian food I have ever had!!! Best kept secret in El Paso! I was surprised to see so many non-Iranians walk into the House of Kabob, and they appeared to be regulars who knew the menu by heart. Tasty food indeed!!
It looks like the other person who has posted a review had the complete opposite experience. I live near this restaurant and have driven by on several occasions, I finally decided to take the family there I was was severely disappointed. The person who took our order was either having a really rough day, was suffering from allergies, or was busy smoking up in the back prior to our arrival because his eyes were really glassy and bloodshot (I later found out he was supposed to be the manager). Several of the items on the menu that we wanted were "out", I am assuming that Mac and Cheese were hot items during the lunch rush and they were no longer able to make anymore for dinner. The restaurant is not clean, in fact I asked for a table to be cleaned and was handed a rag and a spray bottle. I cleaned the table my family and I were sitting at, other patrons of the restaurant followed suit and did the same for their tables as well. Considering the restaurant was pretty much empty when we arrived with only two couples ahead of us in line to order one would think the staff was able to clean, or maybe they were busy out back "smoking". After over an hour after ordering we finally received all of our food. I honestly wouldn't of minded waiting longer than the average time if the food was mind blowing, unfortunately it wasn't and I would consider it low grade BBQ. It was dry, and lacked flavor. The mashed potatoes were gross and the green beans we obviously heated up straight out of the can. The condition of the restaurant was dirty, the service was poor, and the food was over priced and lack luster. This was overall a frustrating and disappointing dining experience. I will not eat here ever again and would not recommend Southern Smoke BBQ to anyone. Don't waste your time or money!
Their food is excellent, good variety!! Their beers are very good and the wait staff will take care of you.
We waited about 10 minutes before getting to the counter & when we did we couldn't decide what we wanted to eat; we asked the cashier what to expect. She gave us a rundown of the combo meals, platters, & sides. We decided on the Chicken Fried Steak with Fried Okra and Mashed Potatoes/Gravy and the 3 Meat with the Smoked Turkey, Brisket, Pork Ribs and Fried Okra, Mashed Potatoes/Gravy & Baked Beans. We also tried the Fried Catfish. The Chicken Fried Steak was tender & thick. My combo plate Brisket was tender and juicy; the Turkey was to die for; and the Ribs were very meaty. I put xtra BBQ on all the meats. The mashed potatoes were homemade, since there were pieces & skin inside. The white gravy was perfect. The Fried Okra was tender w/ a crisp coating. The baked beans were made with a smoky BBQ taste & appeared to have brisket and pulled pork. The Fried Catfish was coated in a breading that was crisp & it was tender. We will be back. Only problem, we still won't know what to order.
Ain't been there yet just word by mouth they say it's good.
Can't place phone orders so don't turn to it if you're trying to grab something on the go
