First time coming. Everyone telling me how great it was. Unfortunately i was disappointed. Went there with a group for work upon entering hostess was very nice. I informed who i was with and when she began to instruct a waiter to take me another lady came and said "no she can go by herself it's right down the hall to your right and she'll figure it out". Keep in mind I had never been here. Waiter that took our order was not very keen on having to tend to us either. To be honest the busboy helping the waiter was MUCH more polite than the waiter. I had i expectations and thought if I enjoyed myself I would return. That is not my thought any longer. The food unfortunately also was not so great. The plate itself was extremely hot but the food was barely warm. My steak was too chewy and I had a hard time chewing it. I have to return in 2 weeks due to work and I hope it is a much different experience, one that is MUCH more pleasant.
We've going to Carlos&Mickey's for years. It used to be in my Top 3 restaurants, not only in El Paso but ever. Not only for the great food, but also the service. Unfortunately, tonight change our opinion about this favorite place. When we went there, it was very busy. We were told that the waiting time was 40minutes, but it could be less. After waiting 1 hour, when I went to inquiry the situation, especially because we were with our 6-month-ol son, I was told there were 1 more party before us and then it was our turn. Then the party before us got paged. When we were getting ready, they paged another party, totally skipping us. I went to ask them what was going on and why they took the party who came after us, up front. They claimed we were the next again. When finally they paged us, the hostess decided to take her time before she walked us to our table. And here is another surprise; we were given a half booth, where me and my husband has to sit next to each other, facing a WALL with our baby on the only open side of the booth. I objected and requested to see the manager. And all we heard was "sorry, we are trying to accommodate everybody, you need to wait more for another table!" After over an hour of waiting, they gave us a table squeezed a corner, probably used for server...We left right away and I am not planning on going back. I just hope that my baby will not get sick after spending over an hour at the entrance, in this cold weather.
P.S: By the reviews, I see that their service quality declined dramatically!!!

Carlos N Mickeys is the first that comes to many El Pasoans' minds when thinking of a traditional place to take friends for a Margarita. The Margarita's are still large but no longer unique.
For the dated atmosphere (which feels unfashionably grungy), the poor service, and the average margarita's this establishment no longer lives up to it's reputation.
I recommend Julio's Cafe Corona or Barrigas Restaurant

I've been to this restaurant several times and have not been satisfied with anything. The food is average and the wait staff is a bit slow (on all levels). Even the sopaipillas were ""Americanized"". I know that people like to go and hang out at the bar, but I think you're better off somewhere else.

This is a beautiful place. The decor is just what you're looking for when you go out to a Mexican restaurant. Nice patio section, too. Service quality is variable, but the Margaritas are always good. The main problem with this place is that the food is very bland - looks Mexican, but doesn't taste Mexican. Usually crowded, but nobody goes there for the food. Eat somewhere else and then go to Mickey's for the drinks and ambiance!

This place is sooooo good! First of all imdarealt wrote a false review! Your waiter doesn't bring your chips and salsa. They have a chips and salsa guy and thats all he does! Second they don't have Chicken enchiladas they only have cheese! If you want chicken you have to order that separetly. Enchiladas come in a combo meal that are only cheese! You should have read the menu! Also he made a comment that the food is not Mexican when is truely is! Maybe he is use to ""mexican"" like Taco Cabana which is americanized!! But you can't get better Mexican food then this! The beef is SHREDDED BEEF! not ground beef! Like most Mexican resturants!
The resturant is very large and gets very busy! When me and my husband go our bill has NEVER been over $50.00 which includes an app to share each person meal and 2 Regular size flavored Margritas each.
It makes me so mad when there are bad reports on this resturant! Their food drinks and service is WONDERFUL! I never had a bad experience!

Visited on Nov 06, 2008. They lost most of their flavor and taste. Food is average, service slightly below, waiters did not pay attention to orders, brought wrong dinners, had to reorder, drinks were flavorless too much water in it.
All-in-all not a place to go for a nice Dinner out.

I took my wife and a friend of ours there, it was all of our first time there on Aug 30, 2008 and I treated .After the wait and the poor service we were seated at a dirty wet table that had just been poorly wiped down. We had to wait for the waiter to take our drink orders and bring the chips and salsa for about 15 minutes and the place were not very busy at this time the employees were complaining to each other and seating customers at the wrong tables you should not get table 11 mixed up with 16 that was us. Anyway we finally got our drinks and the chips and salsa came later, so we ordered appetizers and the appetizers came at the same time our main meal came I hated the tacos, the meat is like roast beef shredded and the chickn tacos were very dry & the rice is just cheap plain old white rice and dry. My wife had some enchiladas that were suppose to have chicken in them but it was only cheese, our friend ordered some enchiladas and some tacos and he did not finish his meal, we all complained to each other in the car. We all had the same feelings and it was a BAD experience. I will not ever go back to that place again that food is not mexican and the service was poor, the next day we went to Taco Cabana the food and the service was MUCH better than Carlos and Mickey's. I spent $61.00 at that place for a bad experience. If you read this and decide to go I just hope you have better luck than we had at that place, and I hope you like dry shredded roast beef in your tacos and enchiladas and dry chunky chicken pieces and cheap white rice on the side...............HIGHLY DISSAPOINTED.

We love this place! The servers are kind of Old World, which gives it a nice touch. The beautiful surroundings create an environment that is most enjoyable and comfortable. The menu includes a wide variety of Mexican specials, along with American selections, and an extensive choice of spirits (try the Margaritas!). We especially love the green chile enchiladas! Expect a wait on the weekends, but it's well worth it.

My husband and I were visiting from LA. Hotel recommended this place. We got there on a week night and the place was packed- good sign so far. They placed us in the far corner. 10min later, waiter wizzed by to take order. I ordered the fajitas. He didn't even bother to ask what type of tortillas I wanted. My husband ordered some kind of beef plate. Their ""mild"" salsa was extremely HOT. And I could typically handle medium salsa. I thought the waiter made a mistake w/ the salsa- No, he said, this IS the mild. There goes my chips and salsa and salsa on my fajitas. The food arrived and of course there were no tortillas for my fajitas. I asked for them, and 10 minutes later, they arrived- when my fajitas got cold. My husbands beef strips were very dry. The waiter NEVER stopped by after bringing the food to see if everything was all right- perhaps refill our drinks as we really needed it. After a long wait, my husband waived him down to bring us the check. On the bill, the waiter didn't even add the large pina colada we ordered and he brought us. Heck, we weren't going to wait another 15 minutes to get him to come again to our table and another 15 min to bring the corrected check. We were totally dissappointed with both the food and service. Even the major chains of mexican food restaurants beat this place.
