We have been going there for 3 years now and I do love the staff. Unfortunately I don't know about it now because when I called up there today I got hung up on when I asked a question and the receptionist acted like my question was too much to hand and she was being very rude. I've never had a problem before here and I found this disappointing.

Desert East Animal Hospital is AWESOME!! I have been taking my ferrets to Dr. Klein for over 13 years now and I simply would not think of going anywhere else! She is very knowledgeable, truthful, and compassionate. I have also seen the wonderful level of care that Dr. Hopp and Dr. Nenni provide to other pets. Dr. Klein is the ferret (exotics) specialist but all the vets and staff here are GREAT! My husband and I would like to move out of town but I simply do not feel comfortable moving where I do not know that I have someone that I can trust to care for my ferrets.
We are a full service small animal hospital, locally and family owned and operated. Dr. Klein and Dr. Hopp are the new owners who purchased the hospital on May 15, 2010! Its our many years of combined veterinary knowledge and caring bedside manner we give to our clients and their pets that sets us apart from other hospitals! Please visit us on the web at www.deserteastanimalhospital.com!! Please note that some of the other reviews are not a reflection of OUR practice philosophies!!

As an owner of three rodents i had a terrible time finding a vet that was experienced in treating rodents. i decided to take a chance with this clinic and i do not regret it. i only had to wait 5 minutes before i was seen! awesome. i love that nobody mentioned anything about cost or payments until AFTER the visit. They put my animals before the money which is amazing. Dr. Klein was very nice to my rodents and handled them like kittens. i would say that was the best vet experience i had ever had in my life and i will definitely go back.

Qualified Veterinarian: Very tentative, caring and knowledgable. I've seen them treat birds, dogs, cats, ferrots, rodents and rabbits.
My 4 pets ( & others who has passed away) have been clients of Desert East for over 10 years.
The facility is extremly clean. My pets have used the kennel facilities at Desert East and are always well taken care of. NOTE: Be sure to call in ahead of time to choose the kennel of your choice. I personally like the larger kennel so that my pets can board together. Be sure to call ahead of time if you are requesting a specific doctor (they do have a doctor who specialized in birds). They also stock Science Diet Supplies, collars and leashes ( a complimentory leash is provided if you forget yours- But it is not fancy). They do surgery on certain days so be sure to call ahead of time to schedule. FYI: They will take in injured birds; they will contact El Paso's wildlife bird sanctuary for pick-up. Also, be sure to take a favorite picture of your pet so they can post it on the bulletin board.
Everything was GREAT; the doctor was kind and listened to every concern I had, his assistant and the front desk receptionist were also fabulous...KUDOS for them.
THE NIGHTMARE BEGAN WHEN THE NAIL TECHNICIAN CAME IN AND BUTCHERED MY POOR DEFENSELESS DOG :(. SHE CUT HIM SEVERAL TIMES & DIDN'T EVEN APOLOGIZE!! THIS IS HER JOB….SHE SHOULD KNOW NOT TO INJURE ANIMALS. I NOTICED WHEN I GOT TO THE TRUCK & THERE WAS BLOOD EVERYWHERE (PAWS WERE BLEEDING). I TOOK HER BACK FOR THEM TO HEAL HER BUT DID NOT EVEN GET AN “I’M SORRY”. PLEASE PLEASE DON'T TAKE YOUR PET TO GET THEIR NAILS CUT THERE. MY POOR DOG DIDN'T MOVE (MY DOG WAS WELL BEHAVIED) THERE WAS NO EXCUSE FOR CUTTING HIM & TORCHERING MY BABY. THE NAIL TECH IS HORRIBLE, INSENSITIVE AND COMPLETELY ABUSIVE!!! IF YOU CARE FOR YOUR ANIMAL, DO NOT TAKE THEM THERE!!!
