Been going to this place as part of my places to have lunch. It has always been just OK but lately the food has gone down in quality. Today will be the last time I go there. My food was OK again but it was the old lady at the register (possibly owner) that did it for me. I was paying my bill when she tried a couple times to swipe my credit card without success. She turns to me and tells me my card is bad and I reply that it isn't (been using it successfully since I've had it). She tries a couple times more and I tell her it's her machine and she quickly slaps my card on the counter and tells me it's my card that's faulty and asks if I have cash. I did but told her no, I told her nothing wrong with my card and she began arguing with me. She said it's my card that's messed up and that she's never wrong! She picked up my card again and it went through! I then told her "you see, nothing wrong with my card " and she continued telling me that my card is bad. I'm laughing telling her how is my card bad when you just successfully swiped it? I said "this is horrible" and she tells me "you're horrible"! I was shocked! She goes on to say "I'm horrible but you're more horrible ". I said"wow". This is how you treat all your customers? She said " Only horrible ones like you". I took my card, signed with no tip (which I never do) and walked out for the last time.
Ok, buckle up amigos...went on the recommendation of a couple of friends for what I thought would be a quick breakfast and ¡Dios mio!, was I pleasantly surprised and thoroughly pleased! Ordered the machaca plate and was blown away by the portions of all that accompanied the pièce de résistance..…

Do NOT go to this restaurant. While waiting for our food we saw 3 roaches walking along the wall. I told the server about it and instead of offering to tell the manager she said I should call the manager myself and let her know. It's filthy there.

Very rude! No customer service! Waited 10 minutes to get service for drink order! Waitress wouldn't come to table! They were all sitting around talking and eating! Had to ho get a waitress to serve me and my girlfriend! Placed order and got food! No one came by to check to see what we needed! I …
Good food, service good, clean restaurant to include restrooms. Very satisfied.
We love the food, the atmosphere is very friendly and the service is awesome
Service is very slow and we went in the evening when it was practically empty and we still couldn't get good service. They have a bunch of TVs so we asked to watch the Sunday night football and one waiter told us they couldn't get the remote to work and the other waiter put it on for us but the signal kept going out. We won't be going back
It was a rainy morning so we had an urge for menudo. Even though their food is overpriced we decided to have breakfast here. We waited over 15 min. for someone to acknowledge us & seat us. The place was packed yet I saw a couple of empty tables. The waitresses would pass us w/o even saying good morning, or we'll be right with you. The staff looked annoyed every time the door would open with more customers in sight. I decided at that time that service is more important than a craving. We had a good breakfast just 5 miles south at Jefitas Tamales.
They took excellent care of my big family, all orders were warm and delicious!! Waiter and waitresses were very kind. Chips and salsa just kept coming. They're chile rellellenos are delicious.
We love going on Mondays for taco night. They have great service and good food. The food is good everyday but our family enjoys the great tacos.
The Riviera is iconic. The food is the best Mexican food we have ever eaten (and we've eaten tons). Carmen, our server has been there for over 20 years and was so patient as we sifted through the huge menu. Based on her suggestions, we enjoyed a fruit plate, a machaca plate, and tamales con huevos at a late breakfast....
We went there during the Christmas season and was very pleased. All of our 4 meals were delicious and served quickly. The service was friendly and prompt. Living in the Houston area we really appreciated the low prices. We also went to the Riviera a few days later for breakfast and enjoyed very the Huevos Rancheros and the cheese omelet....
There are a lot of Mexica restaurants in El Paso but when you find one that has been in business as long as the Riviera you know they'll have good food. It's basic, simple and delicious. You won't go wrong with ordering anything on the menu, but I love the tamales (red or green)
