I work in Washington, my co-workers and I visit the Springhouse maybe once or twice a month. We go for the atmosphere, the food is just okay. On a recent visit to the Springhouse I ordered a chicken sandwich w/lettuce, tomato and mayo and chicken soup "to go" for my dinner that evening and I had a meatball sandwich and a small salad for lunch. When I got to the cashier I was asked what was on my sandwich - is there lettuce, tomato, mayo or cheese - when told yes to each of these items I was promptly charged for each one. Throughout this process the line was backed-up considerably and I had spent $15.00 on a quite crappy lunch. I want you to know that my co-workers and I will never go back to the Springhouse for lunch. I also wonder about the germs growing in those food trays because everything I have ever had there is room temperature and I would have to question whether it was safe or not.
It is certainly true that you have a money-making machine there with the atmosphere and all and it is also true that people will pay for anything even when they are getting nothing and those are the people who keep prices high. Other than atmosphere at the springhouse they really have nothing to offer.
