Broxton Bridge Plantation-Sc55
"Classic Southern hospitality will greet you when you come to Broxton Bridge Plantation. The plantation has been owned by the Varn family for nine generations and it is being operated as a hunting retreat and bed and breakfast. The Civil War's Battle at Broxton Bridge took place on the southern end of the plantation February 1, 1865. You will get a lot of value for your money when you stay, from wonderful surroundings, comfortable and clean rooms to pleasant and friendly service. You can relax, put your feet up and really enjoy your stay, because this is not your average bed and breakfast. Since my first visit here (1 year ago), I have never had a bad experience. Land owner and host Jerry Varn ... Oh, yeah: bring back the Southern Gentleman. Compassionate and kind, honest and engaging, entertaining, hardworking and possessing of an integrity given value by the quality of life he unapologetically pursues. You can count on him and you can trust him. Do you have any idea how rare a combination that is? He is a complete Southern gentleman and does the right thing, regardless of whether anyone’s looking. He embodies today’s "Southern gentleman" - raised with a sense of tradition and respect he is effortlessly polite. He knows how to smile and nod to passersby, and how to introduce himself to a group of strangers. He treats ladies with the utmost respect. He pulls out chairs and opens doors for a lady. Moreover, he acts with such confidence that his smile, handshake, and small talk never feel forced or disingenuous. There is no Internet service and occasionally I was able to get a text but don't expect to be checking Facebook until you are off the property. The horse trails are beautiful. I could see well beyond that and the old trees, beautiful ponds, creek beds and gorgeous natural landscape were magical. This was one time that the website could not come close to portraying the beauty of nature that the Varn family has captured and maintained here. Whether you’re a hunter interested in extending your fun through the summer, or a casual clay shooter ready to up the ante Broxton Bridge is the place to go. Here they remember your name and go over the top to make your experience as perfect as possible. The excitement of breaking clay targets is contagious fun that the whole family will enjoy. The courses were designed to entice beginners and challenge the masters."
