Edgewood, MD Nail Salons

Nails were different sizes, Bigger on right hand and smaller on left. Politely asked to make sure they were the same size and got attitude. Clear coat was put on my nails and something black was in it and got on one of my nails and had to be redone. Mona got an attitude and started slamming things because she had to fix it. After she walked away, I asked her mom if she was mad at me? She smiled/giggled and said nothing. So, I basically just sat there and held back tears because I was upset. I left with my thumb nail way longer on one hand that I had to file and fix myself because I was afraid to say anything. My nails are also thicker on one hand and look kind of weird. I have always been respectful to them and gave them a second chance with something that made me upset at a prior visit because almost everyone deserves a second chance and because of the convenient location near my house but after this experience, I will never go back.

Horrible customer service. I walked in (African-American female) was told an hour wait even though I was only 1 person getting her nails done and I waa the only one waiting. About 10 minutes later, wo caucasian females walked in and the mother and father came out of the back and immediately waited on them. I spoke with the two women, they did not have an appointment. As I was walking out of the nail salon, customers apologized anf offered to l let me go before them...but the father said "No, we'll take them first ... She will wait." I walked out. I have never experienced such blatant racism and discrimination. DO NOT GO HERE. THIS IS NOT A BUSINESS YOU WANT TO SUPPORT.

I have had similar experiences of overt discrimination, hostility, poor service and price gouging. Each visit no matter what time of day required an hour or more wait while those who were favored moved ahead. Also the mother is so hostile its unbelievable and she drives the performance and behavior of the daughter MONA and the husband. She speaks in such a condescending manner you question where she learned the business ethics to serve customers. Each time I was quoted a price that was not on the price sheet and regardless of when I returned it was never early enough which required apparently more work. This salon appears to cater to the Caucasian customers and anyone who looks different is ostracized. And if you question why the price changes the mother and dad become more hostile and provide the most asinine reasons. I have tried to make a formal complaint of discrimination but have found it difficult to find a state agency that oversees the performance and service of nail salons. I will keep looking because no paying civil customer should be treated with such hostility, disdain and poor service. The only qualified nail person is Mona but she is manipulated by the mom and dad who tell her what to do. They both should retire if they don't want to work with people of color. They give Mona's a bad name and have ruined Mona's reputation. Mona's work is excellent but it does not justify the treatment and poor customer service extended by the mom and dad. I would sincerely recommend you not go there. Spend your money some where else where you are valued as a customer. If MONA's don't want to work with all people and treat everyone equally they should close this shop and give someone else a chance. There are not many salons in this location and we as customers would be the better for it. I work very hard for my money and should be treated accordingly and we should not have to tolerate store owners that would treat us otherwise because of personal prejudices.

If you are looking for a unique nails and totally express you this is the place. The family is nice and they talk to you! Omg, I hate it when you go to other places and all you do is sit there and they just do your nails. People who complain about them don't know what they are talking about. I recommend this place!

I've tried so many different salons. All my friends kept recommending Mona's and I absolutely fell in love. I like the fact I can walk in tell them my ideas, show them pictures, and she makes them happen. The dad is funny and the mom is nice. They talk to you and they make you feel comfortable. Some people are nasty and can be rude like the person below. I recommend this store to all my friends and family.

I don't know why there are negative reviews about this place, but I have to say I DISAGREE! I love getting my nails done at Mona's! It's a family own business and when I come I always leave happy with my nails and with the customer service. They talk they laugh it is absolutely fun there. Like sometimes I would come with pictures from pin interest and Mona will make the same designs on my nails! Even better than the pictures! I feel sorry for them cause some people can be so rude to them. I love my nails n compared to the other stores I think their prices are cheap. I LOVE MONAS!
