I like HEB, and ordinarily have a positive shopping experience no matter which store I go to here in San Antonio Texas. Tonight at around 9pm, I shopped at the 5910 Babcock Rd location. It's not very busy then, and with checkouts had only a few people in line if that. I chose the nearest check out (#1), because it's sole customer's purchase was completed. There were no customers behind me. The person at the register rang the items up with out greeting or eye contact. Still, no one was in line behind me. As she was finishing the bagging up my $30 or so of purchase, she launched into a negative lecture on my lack courtesy to others (?) because I had gone a bit over the 10 item limit sign that I had missed seeing. Still there was no one behind me. This critical "dressing-down" continued for a while with pauses that seemed to invite an argument. When she finished speaking to me, I responded with my only statement: that if I had upset her that much, I would cancel the sale. Still there was no one behind me at that checkout. I then related the incident to the Manager on Duty and left without the groceries I had intended to buy. Still there was no one in that checkout. I am a 60 yr/old disabled veteran with sight and other impairments, but fortunately, courtesy and common sense are not on my list of problems. From my days in the army, I couldn't help but wonder how much of this situation was a training issue?

I ordered the chile relleno dinner and it was delicious. I wanted the mole sauce instead of the enchilada sauce on the enchilada. They changed without a question. The pan dulce was delicious too.
I had ordered a bday cake for my step son and make a picture to put ontop. I explained very carefully what I needed and said if they couldnt print out the picture because it was a little dark to call me and I can choose something else. I never got the call. I went to pick up the cake and it was completely dark. Darker than the original picture. It almost looked like a big black square box taking up 95% of the cake. It was a Halo picture that I made myself to still be within copyright laws, and it had Halo on the bottom. On the top it was supposed to say "Happy Birthday (his name)" But instead it had happy birthday halo. Wasnt pleased argued with manager but he was sincerly apologetic and didnt charge me for the cake and gave me some ice cream. But, my pictures will always have that ugly cake in them so not sure if the free ice cream helped any. Kids were happy with the ice cream tho.
My family livea few minutes by this store. I love the location since its very close to home and a 1 stop shop. Heres my probem. My son and i were standing in check out and apperantly the young lady new my son from HS and she was not fond of my son. With that said she was not only RUDE to me but RUDE TO ME MULTIPLE TIME THAT I WENT THERE. I did complain to a JR manager who i hope spoke with this young lady about her attitude. This by the way still goes on even last week when i was there.I say these young ones need more training while checking out customers. just last week on Friday evening after work past 7pm it happened again with a new cashier. She kept trying to get her managers attention who promly came but just stood there acting like she was going to bag my items. I AM JUST OVER ALL SAD WITH THE WAY CERTAIN PEOPLE ACT!!! Jhasty
i would go to ali babas all the time to get my middle eastern groceries the owner was always nice and helpful........ until i had some cuff links on my shirt that said shalom he asked do you know what that says and i said yes after that the attitude changed . i admit i was saddened by this because i am an american first where the only color i recognize is red white and blue! he now avoids me like the plague! i really like to go here but i rarely do now i am sorry for what is happening in the middle east and when 911 happened i called to see if they were targeted at there store, because america IS about diversity. i do wish them the best because there store is a gem!
I enjoy having this grocery store at this very convenient location. Having one built somewhere near or on 211 (between 1604 and Castorville) would be wonderful .The annoys us is always having to bag our own groceries. We sometimes see supers, managers, associates, walking around when the cashier may be backed up and the customer has to step in and bag their own groceries. There are also times when the cashier is talking to another co-worker instead of concentrating on what they are doing or just making the customer feel comfortable by just being friendly. Honestly, bagging our own groceries is not very appealing to my husband at all.
I went here with friends from work during our lunch break. The staff is very friendly and appeared genuinely concerned that we enjoyed or visit. I liked the variety of hot dogs available and I especially liked the condiment bar and all the different types of mustards. There’s not a lot of seating inside but we got there early, 11:15, and there was no problem finding a place to sit. I’m not sure if they have a crowding problem or not. It was not crowded by the time we left. (11:45) My only complaint is the limited amount of parking.
Just had lunch at Kings Ct. and it was great! The price is right and the portions large. The fat boy weiner is truly huge! I had The Alamo dog and hand cut fries and it was very tasty. Another plus is that they have such a wide selection of toppings...and they don't charge extra for them. I was able to load up my dog with jalapenos, relish, onions and my choice of about 15 mustards, without incurring an additional charge. I will definitely be back to try out a few more dogs.
I live just down the street. Walmart has more inventory and cheaper prices, but it takes less time to go to La Fiesta. They have some decent deals, but prices and selection are very limited. However, I must comment that when I come into the store I am greeted with a smile and treated very well by employees. I am never worried about walking back to my vehicle, even though I live in a high end crime area. AI really like my La Fiesta!!
Love this market! Gourmet food and great, helpful staff. As much as I really like Whole Foods market as well, the staff at Central Market are definitely more pleasant, really helpful and super professional. I like how they have themed events. Last time I went in there they had performances going on in their cafe area and all of the food samples were of the same theme. Their selection of wine and cheese is the best!
Yes this place is great! San Antonio needs more grocery stores like Whole Foods Market. It's a little pricey but you get what you pay for...quality gourmet food and organic produce. I like some of their pre-made selections, too. I would highly recommend people shop at this store...invest in your health...it's one of the best things to spend your money on...it's at the Quarry Market.
