About Search Results

YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. Search results are sorted by a combination of factors to give you a set of choices in response to your search criteria. These factors are similar to those you might use to determine which business to select from a local Yellow Pages directory, including proximity to where you are searching, expertise in the specific services or products you need, and comprehensive business information to help evaluate a business's suitability for you. “Preferred” listings, or those with featured website buttons, indicate YP advertisers who directly provide information about their businesses to help consumers make more informed buying decisions. YP advertisers receive higher placement in the default ordering of search results and may appear in sponsored listings on the top, side, or bottom of the search results page.

Little Bear: A Belgian Beer Cafe
chapps rated
Honestly, this is some of the ...

Honestly, this is some of the best food I've ever had in the Los Angeles area. The restaurant is a bit difficult to find, tucked on a side street in the heart of east downtown L.A., but if you know the restaurant State & Church, it's just across the street. It's a big red door. So, first let's talk about the beer. The menu is filled with artisan Belgian style beers, both imported and domestic. You can't go wrong, but talk to your waiter about what you like, or what you feel like having, and you'll get a good recommendation. Be bold - the selection changes all the time. I highly recommend the Ommegang Witte, if available - sweet, summery, just great. Then the appetizers. There are several mussel dishes to choose from - just pick one. I love the smoked salmon bruschetta - it's out of this world. And the mushroom risotto ... ay yi. I got a taste of the salmon sandwich and one of the burgers - they're pretty much fantastic. But let me tell you, it's all about the smoked wild boar sausage, with pureed roasted sweet potatoes, black kale and pearl onions. I haven't tasted boar sausage like this since my last meal in Venice (Italy, not the beach town). And if you're not adventurous for the boar, head straight for the grilled smoked salmon and taste a bit of heaven. Seriously, this is my new favorite restaurant.

Great after movie place

Love the mellow vibe of this restaurant/bar and it's a great place to have a light dinner and a few drinks after a movie at Arclight. Went to see Julie and Julia last night and we were totally craving french/gourmet faire. Knowing this place has Moules Et Frites, we stopped in for a bite. Unfortunately, the mussels were tiny and really dry. The sauce, however, was loaded with flavor and chock full of garlic, leeks and butter with a hint of cayenne. The fries were a bit soggy and weren't seasoned very well and we had to ask for aöili. The crabcakes were decent, although a little to heaving on the cornmeal. For dessert, we had the butterscotch pudding with salted hazelnut brittle - this was the best part of the meal! Overall, everything was ok. I've had mussels in hundreds of restaurants around town so this place had a lot to live up to. As for the service: B+, drinks/wine list: A. We'll probably go back and maybe try something else next time.

Barbrix

Great local restaurant

My husband and I recently went to Barbrix to celebrate our anniversary. I had heard that the restaurant can be extremely loud and that it's better to sit outside. It was cold the night we went so we sat inside. It was a bit loud but we were able to hear one another. If you are with a party of four or more I think the acoustics could be a challenge. The food was fantastic. What a welcome addition to the neighborhood restaurants. The menu is quite large and consists of small plates. We had delicious charcuterie, olives, amazing scallops, some delicious cheeses, the cauliflower and a few other items. The wine list was quite good too. The atmosphere was vibrant and lively and the food was delish.

Faultline Rocks On Latin Night Fridays! I have Not visited this club in many years. This is one of the few remaining older establishments left in Los Angeles and they are still going Strong! They have various theme nights and back on Friday, November 11, 2016, they had their "Esta Noche" latin night with plenty of Go Go Dancers, along with Live Shows to entertain you. Enclosed in the pictures, please find some examples of what I saw when I was over there. If you are ever in the Vermont Avenue/Melrose Avenue area of Los Angeles and want something different, then please come by and visit. Thank you. Verdugo Bar

Great Neighborhood Hangout

The Verdugo is everything a neighborhood bar should be. First, it's kind of hard to find. Look for a nondescript door with a large bouncer-type outside. You enter into a narrow, dimly lit room that holds a long curvy bar and a few tables. Grab one of their many many beers (excellent selection of artisan beers) and walk out to the back patio. This is one of the few beer gardens in LA, and it's a great one. Rows of picnic tables are usually filled with young East Siders (most of whom don't have the evil hipster gene you find in Silverlake) and Oxy students. Frequent mash-ups with some of LA's best food trucks mean you can get your food and drink on all in one go.

The Varnish

Fabulous atmosphere

After one of my friends raved about Varnish, I went with some of my coworkers to check it out: the atmosphere is amazing, but the drinks all seemed fairly generic to me (which was surprising considering the reviews I'd heard). I ordered a Fizzy something, which was basically just a high-priced mojito. I'd say the prices are worth it just for the ambiance and the cool factor of strutting through Cole's and entering the back speakeasy through the unmarked door, but the drinks themselves haven't been anything to write home about in my experience. Still, definitely worth a trip downtown.

Lucky Strike LA Live

Best Sushi in Downtown

I was pleasantly surprised by the caliber of this restaurant, especially because it's a sort of chain, but the Downtown Katsuya location does not disappoint. A great array of original cocktails from the wet bar and some top-notch sushi (I'd recommend in particular the baked crab and yellowtail rolls). I decided to do it up right and then ordered the Kobe with Foie Gras, which was one of the best cuts of meat I've ever had. In the massive entertainmoplex of LA Live, Katsuya sticks out like a sore thumb, because it's authentic and truly impresses the guest. 5 stars.

Henry's Hat

Great food, drink and scene...what could be better

My wife and I recently tried Henry's Hat. We are big on the micro brew thing right now and Henry's hit the spot. The menu is pretty diverse. We enjoyed the ahi tuna, split a burger with killer mac n cheese and had a separate salad. The beer selection including drafts are solid. They have blue moon which is always a plus for me. Make sure you have a reservation (you can book via OpenTable on YP.com), but if you don't there is open seating at the bar. The scene was very happening with a few birthday parties going on and some good music. Would definitely go there again.

Ms Miki

This is one of the best bars for the African American community there is within the Los Angeles, CA area. It is clean and very well established, the place have a warm and friendly atmosphere with a touch of class and soul that generates the type of welcome that makes one enjoy being there and to come back again. It is safe and well decorated, lively and fun. I will definitely continue to go to Jewel's Catch One and will tell all of my new friends to go there and to eat at the Vegan Restaurant where the food is simply delicious and reasonably priced.
