What's not to love? The personality of Tropical Acres transcends time and trends. This staple of great dining on Griffin Rd. has been around since 1949!! That should say it all. We have been dining at Tropical Acres for around 8 years now. Whenever we want to spend quality time with friends or family we know that Tropical Acres always satisfies. If you are looking for a high brow place to dine with a fancy menu go elsewhere. If you want great food, great service and old time charm of Florida dining then this is your dining destination. The Steaks are out of this world. I get the Special Cut Filet a 10 oz juicy and tender and cooked just right. Melts in your mouth. Get this with hash browns and a salad. You won’t beat the price either. Don't miss the onion bread. They try to keep these limited but make sure to ask for some if they don’t give you enough in the basket. They are great. Desert will not disappoint, my favorite is the carrot cake. Before you dine take few minutes to grab a big drink in the bar. You will feel like you have gone back to the 50's. Can't wait to go back.
Better than Capital Grill, or any steakhouse in Ft. Lauderdale. We go there for all birthdays and special occasions. Unbelieveable martini's too.

(April 25, 2017) Our family's dining experience at Chuck's Steak House on 2428 E. Commercial was all the good things we had heard of this restaurant... and MORE! Among other reasons why we will keep coming back, there's the menu, where patrons will find carefully chosen dishes (plus wines, beers and beverages) to satisfy every palate without having to hand customers a three pound "book." The sides and accompaniments are equally mouth-watering and balanced. The salad bar, while not huge, is fresh, plenty varied, and visually inviting--and the plates are kept cold! Service is pleasant, efficient and friendly; our group of eight was catered to with smiles and a sincere desire to make us feel right at home. And the main courses were served cooked to perfection! One could expect to pay twice as much elsewhere for food this delicious and of this quality. Did I mention the place was comfortable and spotless? Yes, the manager also deserves 5 stars. Chuck's S-H has won us over!!! PP
Last night was our most recent visit to Tropical Acres. All in our party had the "early bird," which consisted of any entree on the menu plus soup, dessert and coffee or tea, thrown in at no additional charge. I chose the prime rib, accompanied by onion soup, salad, baked potato, ice cream roll cake and tea. My husband and the seafood pasta platter with a red sauce, accompanied by onion soup "au gratin" (an up charge of $2.50), Cesar salad…he skipped dessert and tea. Our dinner companions had a seafood with ziti and red sauce, broccoli cheese soup, salad, iced tea and rum cake, and rib steak, salad, onion soup "au gratin", ice cream roll cake and iced tea. The servings were so large, we each took home enough for a good lunch the next day. The total bill came to under $100 for all of this. Best of all, however, was the attentive, friendly, prompt service, provided by a waitress and a helper. We will definitely go back…if only to be served by Donna once again.
We had the LOBSTER SPECIAL tonite at Tropical Acres. It is a family friendly deal because of the price and the large lobster portion. It was delicious and filling. Tropical Acres is a cozy kind of FAMILY restaurant. The prices are reasonable, the food is GOOD and the portions are plentiful. The wait staff is always friendly and accomodating. The restaurant caters to a middle class crowd. It is NOT pretentious or up-scale. You get bang for your buck and there is a wide assortment of entrees from which to choose. Some nites they have a pianist playing a variety of selections from the GREAT American songbook--which makes the dining experience even nicer. This is a nice restaurant, where you will feel satisfied and well treated when you have finished your dinner.
Spent a weekend in Ft. Lauderdale and went to Tropical Acres at the recommendation of our hotel. Classic steak and seafood house with excellent service, sublime steaks and fish (really, where can you get escargots as an appetizer anymore?), attention to detail. Not cheap, but certainly in line with other high-end steakhouses. Oh, I should mention that we were there on a Thursday evening and the place was packed...and there were two retirement parties going on in private rooms, too! There was a piano player, who played softly in the background. No, it's not a young crowd (at least it wasn't when we were there), it may not be "hip" or "trendy", but it was well worth the money and we'll definitely go back.
We stayed about a minute away at the Fairfield Inn and it was a terrible rainy day so we didn't want to drive to far for dinner.Went for the Early Bird Dinner and what a value! For the price of the entree you get soup, salad, entree, a side, drink, dessert and sour dough rolls. I had the Tuscan Tbone and it was incredible. Our servers (2) were Tami and Steve. Both were awesome. Very attentive and kept our water and tea glasses full. This is the oldest Steak House in South Florida and its easy to see why they have a great reputation. As far as parking they have Valet, Handicap or you can Self Park. The lot is very big. We will come back here to dine next time in the area.
Every time I visit Florida, about every other year for the past twenty years, I always visit “Tropical Acres” for my favourite dish, PRIME RIB. In looking through other reports on this fine restaurant, I have not seen a single entry about their Prime Rib, which has to be the best in the world. I remember one occasion when I was actually able to cut the meat with my fork. This being said people I have dined with, have never had a bad meal or complaint. It is truly an amazing family restaurant, and lives continually up to its reputation for fine dining. They have an excellent web site which covers all else you might need to know about the restaurant
After a long week on a cruise ship. The thing we wanted most was a nice dinner and Tropical Acres was a great choice. We did a quick internet search for steak restaurants in the area and based on the reviews we decided to give it a try. Our servers Tami & Joe were both pleasant, knowledgeable and prompt. Our dinners came perfect and piping hot. We also ordered dessert to go as we were stuffed and couldn't eat another bite at the table. The gentleman that prepared our steaks definitely knows what he's doing as we both enjoyed our filet and cowboy steaks, crab cakes & lobster tails. We will be back every time we visit Ft Lauderdale.
Tropical Acres is a guaranteed great meal from start to finish. The bread is always fresh and warm, the salads are fresh and crisp, they make the best martinis, and the seafood is superb. I don't eat meat, but everyone I've ever gone there with said the steak was out of this world. I live right across the street and have never had anything at Tropical Acres that was not delicious. The restaurant itself has a vibe that takes me back to places I went to eat with my mom when I was a child. It is not modern and I like that. It is comfortable and has the nice touch of a man playing piano while you dine. I love this place!
Tropical Acres makes the best steak I've ever had. We ordered the New York Strip for Two. Pittsburg-style - charred on the outside, very rare on the inside. I don't know where Tropical Acres gets their steaks, but this is by far the most tender and flavorful New York I've even eaten. I can't buy that steak at my local Publix. We sat at the bar, it's own separate room with dark wood and fish tanks. I highly recommend sitting in there if you can. And Tommy the bartender is totally on the ball making sure the drinks were fresh and the food was served steaming hot. No waiting there!
