One of the worst doctors i have gone to. I went here after my hysterectomy hoping for some answers to feeling better again after not having any luck with the hormones that Id been on. Dr. Allison was short, dismissive and did not even look at me when I was talking to her. I had to take the hormone panel twice because they did not explain that i was not to use any lotion. Dr. Allison said they always tell the patient about lotion. I do not recommend going here and wasting your time.

I am very new to N.C. and I love relocating here. I visited
Dr.Allison's office for the first time. I had no intention of
seeing a GYN doctor because I hate that type of visit.
Knowing that my medical doctor in NY told me last year
that I must have a GYN visit. So,reluctantly I made an
appointment thru my wonderful Linda. Dr.Allison is so
thorough that all the pass experiences I had of GYN exams are gone. She was gentle and ask if I had any
questions, I did but was so relieved that the process of
the exam was not bad at all as I remembered.so I didn't
ask any questions, the exam answered it all.
She also makes me chuckled, with her down to earth
sense of humor. Dr.Allison's office is always clean and
smells so lovely. I would not trade her for all the GYN doctors in the world. (you go Girl!) .I know you may not see this post but it is from your forever patient, Dorinda M.

I stumbled upon this site and am shocked by some of the comments I'm seeing on here. I saw her for the first time a few weeks ago and was very pleased. I saw her for hormone therapy as she came highly recommended by a close friend. She has a great sense of humor but she also understands that she has to get down to business. Its a shame that people don't understand that she's running a business as well as being a healthcare provider. I had a great experience and will be going back for sure!

I have been to different gynecologists in several different states and I have never had an experience like the one I had with Dr. Allison.
I went for an annual and she absolutely refused to answer any other questions I had about health concerns relating to my gynecological health. She said I needed to schedule a separate appointment for each issue since I was there for my annual. If I did not, she would report our conversation to the insurance company and I might have to pay for the health advice. I was completely appalled. I have never heard anything like that in my life.
If that wasn't bad enough, she was very short with me and rude. Her technique with the exam was quite painful as well.
Do yourself a favor. Don't go to this doctor.

I am new to the area, and through a referral from my primary care physician I tried to schedule an appointment with a Gynecologist, at the Duke Women's Health Association.
However, the soonest they could see me was two months in the future. This distressed me because I was having a number of menopausal symptoms that were interfering with my life and I really wanted to see a doctor as soon as possible.
About two weeks before my scheduled appointment with Duke Women's Health Associates I had a “scare”, I called their office and I told the receptionist of my symptoms and asked if I see the doctor soon since I was concerned that it could be something serious. The receptionist told me to go to the emergency room. I was livid, (being hormonal didn’t help).
I went “on line” and read about Dr. Alyson, I called her office and spoke to Linda, Linda made an appointment for me to see Dr. Alyson that afternoon.
Although my problem turned out not to be as serious as I thought it could have been, I was pleased at Dr. Alyson and her staff reacted so quickly to my needs.
Since this incident, I have had three appointments with Dr. Alison, she is very professional and knowledgeable. She has helped me to be more proactive regarding my menopausal symptoms and recommended various treatments and supplements.
I am very pleased with Dr. Alyson and her staff. Thank you. Robin
PS. In the defense of the “Duke Women's Health Association”, a nurse from their office called me a few days after the initial incident “scare” and apologized for the suggestion of the receptionist for me “to go to the emergency room” and offered me an earlier appointment, I thanked her but told her I was happy with my new doctor!

Gosh, I don't know about all the negative comments on Dr. Allison's demeanor is about. She has always been very kind and patient with me, with all my questions. I found her to have a very nice personality and humor. We have shared a couple of chuckles.
I adore her front desk staff, they have always been extremely nice and kind.
I have been going for over two years and I drive there from Cary.
If you are not happy you could discuss this with her.. She is extremely fair.
During the ice storm she called me personally to let me know we would have to reschedule my appt. Talk about wonderful service.
I love you guys, southpoint med.

I was referred to Dr. Allison by a friend of mine for hormone treatment. I did a little research online and saw some of the mixed reviews. Based on the great feedback from my friend I decided to give her a try. To my pleasant surprise the experience was great. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Dr. Allison was attentive and helpful with an abundance of knowledge. I was also please to find out she has a nurse practitioner who does primary care that was recently was added to the practice. After meeting her I decided to switch all of my care to southpoint medicine as a ""one stop shop"". I will definitely be referring people to their office. I think some of the mixed reviews have come from patients like myself who need hormone treatment and can be irritable and set off by the smallest things. After all there is no way she could be in practice 7 years without doing something right. See you later Dr. Allison and Ms. Tharrington and thanks again!

well, I have to admit that I just don't really have much time in my life to whine, complain or be bothered by impatient or highly opinionated or unyielding kinda folks, but when it comes to docs and medicine and women, I just had to raise my voice. Dr Allison just doesnt seem to care much about taking too much time to smile, or be cool with her staff or her clients. Im sure she has lots to take care of in her life for herself, but I have made it a point to empty my life of folks who are not interested in my well being.
I will not be returning to this woman's office and that's a shame because Im sure a black woman in medicine is a huge accomplishment and I bow to her, woman to woman, but i think it might be time for her to get rid of the chip on her shoulder and stop being so pissed off.

I have been seeing Dr. Allison for bio-identical hormones for about a year. So glad to read these other reviews and see that I am not the only one to have the kind of experience that I had with her today. It was SO bad that I will NOT be going back to see her again. I have never gotten the warm fuzzies from Dr. Allison. At best…she has complimented me on my hair cut. But today…I must have been having a “bad hair day” because she was rude to me from the time she walked into the exam room until I walked out the door. In fact…I think she even called the receptionist while I was standing there checking out to find out if I was still there. If you want a Doctor who can really make you feel bad about yourself…especially when you are already “hormonal”…I highly recommend Dr. Allison! Otherwise…she’s not all that!!!!

I have to agree with everyone about Dr. Allison's demeanor. On my first (yearly) appointment I found her to be aloof and seemingly uncaring. I have not yet switched to a new doctor and am late for my yearly exam, so I will be giving her one more shot. I will report back if my opinion changes after my appointment. And if it doesn't I will be looking for a new doctor.
The only positive thing to report about my visit was that they did help me some with my 2 year old. I had to take him along (fun, fun) and the staff did help distract him during my exam.
I have to say that my second exam did go better than the first. She seemed a bit more personable this time. So I switched from 1 star to 2. I think I may still look for another doctor.

Dr. Allison is impatient, irritable and patronizing. I went to UNC OB-GYN instead and saw Dr. Christina Munoz at her Chapel Hill office off MLK/Airport Rd. It was very convenient (nice staff and easy parking), and Dr. Munoz was friendlier, smarter (better academic credentials and training, too) and more patient in her explanation of the complicated mess of symptoms I'd developed. Dr. A. is just not a nice person. Don't bother. Other places prescribe bio-identical hormones now.

The visit to Southpoint Medicine and Women Health Associates meet and exceeded the medical care that I expected. I was in search of a facility that would give direct attention to my health concerns. I received that with Dr. Allison and her staff , from the time I enter to register and until time I checked out . My visit was pleasant and the staff professional she was attentive as we discuss my health needs and concerns, I knew then that the choice to visit and make her my primary doctor at this point in my life was the right one.

I never like to search for a new Dr. but I had to. After a bit of searching I opted for South Point Medicine because it's close to my house, female staffed, and generally a small practice. Sold. I made an appointment and then saw the review above - awesome. After reading that review I was a little nervous and wasn't looking forward to my appointment (yearly exam), but honestly, who does? I found Dr. Allison to be friendly, attentive, knowledge, and gentle ? by far the best experience I?ve had with and ob/gyn. I was surprised and pleased and highly recommend her and South Point Medicine.

Dr. Allison's demeanor was as cold as her stethoscope. She made no attempt to develop report with me as a first time patient. I did not feel like she was interested in discussing issues that were obviously important to me. She is the reason I dread my yearly exam.
