You can't say much for the decor, except it's an old Waffle House. Despite the diner type feel of my visit, the food actually wasn't that bad. Visiting Durham, North Carolina, to see an old friend, I stopped in about ten minutes before closing time.Ordering the Jimmy's Famous Hot Dog Combo, I would eat back at my hotel while catching up on e-mail, etc. 2 hot dogs "All the Way," french fries and a drink. A quick order - I had driven ten hours from South Florida and wasn't really paying attention to the menu. I didn't realize until later that they were turkey rather than beef. With that said, the dogs weren't bad. I met Billy - apparently one of the owners. Nice enough guy and we spoke for a few minutes while waiting on my order. When returning to my hotel a few moments later, I found that my combo order had 3 hot dogs rather than 2. Not a bad fast food experience. All the way hot dogs weren't bad and no complaint about the french fries either. Take out bag had napkins and other condiments. Soft drink was a pour your own after being handed a cup.Convenient location to major highways and plenty of hotels. I would visit again if ever returning to the area.Bill LewisFort Lauderdale, Florida.
Husband and I went to T K Tripps on Club Blvd., in Durham friday evening 11/13.Both of us ordered the Filet Mignon done medium. Our server was a very personable and capable young lady named China. Our steaks were the absolute best either of us has EVER had and that includes at Ruth's Chris!Mouth watering, VERY moist and extremely tender. Whoever the chef was, he or she certainly knew what they were doing and did it extremely well!!Have never had a bad dinner at Tripps but this was absolutely over the top!!
I never write reviews but after reading the one review that I saw up here about my ONLY favorite restaurant in Durham I just had to say something. I have never been treated unruly in this establishment by anyone everyone went above and beyond. yes the wait may be long even for one person because I went by myself but its worth all the wait. the restaurant is loupe because if its food and I never mind the wait because there is a coffee cafe that I go to and pick up while IM waiting to be seated at Dame's. In short the food is really worth all the wait.
I go as much as I can. good food.
I chose Tobacco Road Sports Café in Durham for my daughter’s wedding rehearsal dinner a few weeks ago, and it turned out to be the perfect choice for this big event.Rommie and his staff more than exceeded my expectations in every way. They were easy to work with as I kept changing the details of the dinner during the many months of planning, and on the day of the dinner quickly made the necessary changes as the weather (ie: Tropical Storm Andrea) required the dinner to be moved from their outdoor patio to the interior banquet room. And the food was amazing!! Many, many, many compliments about how delicious everything was from the dinner guests. The wait staff kept things flowing at just the right pace, and treated us all like royalty. A splendid time was had by all!
The food and atmosphere are amazing! Our server Dennis was prompt polite and funny. Management also stopped by to ensure that everything was perfect and it was more than! I highly recommend this location and if you see Larry the manager or Dennis the server give them my regards!
Never ever, ever eat at this dump. The service is the worst. They are to busy fooling around with each other to take care of customers. Food slow, cold, bad and missing sides. I had to get up and find someone to get a my grandson's drink, any refill, our rolls, the check, and to be checked out. Restroom stunk and no soap for you or THEM???? And they could not have cared less. If they are still open, is any Ruby Tuesday worth eating at.
