General Info

The Durango Fire & Rescue Authority works to prevent emergencies through education and training. Its emergency medical services division offers care solutions to nearly 2,800 patients annually. The department operates a fire prevention division that works to prevent the outbreak of fires. The Durango Fire & Rescue Authority works with a team of more than 170 employees. The department maintains over 15 fire stations. Its response area encompasses nearly 325 square miles. The Durango Fire & Rescue Authority operates approximately five advanced life support ambulances and transport rescues. It was formed by the consolidation of the Animas Fire Protection District, Hermosa Cliff Fire Protection District, Durango Fire Department and Mercy Ambulance. The department is governed by the City of Durango in Colorado.
