If I could give this school no stars that is exactly what I would do! I heard all these wonderful things about this school. The excellent curriculum they had, the boasting about what a fantastic school it was and I bought in to it! I found that the principal is lazy and it looks as if he counts down the days to retirement, the teachers are extremely spoiled which is likely from the great parent involvement at this school, however, just because you are used to getting something does not mean you always will. Be grateful not just for your own efforts but the efforts of the students and the parents.A letter came home with my son that said the teacher was used to getting more volunteers than what had signed up. I had already signed up to volunteer, however, in this economy more people are working or finding themselves juggling more in their lives. The letter was inconsiderate considering the times. There is an overall arrogance that radiates from the staff at this school that is just completely and utterly disgusting! Did I also mention these people tend to use retention as a crutch? I have volunteered for almost 3 years and I have seen the track record. Codington is a very advanced school and a lot of these students come armed and ready for the curriculum, however, those that who are not as prepared, Codington, generally seems to recommend retention rather than teaching. I have watched so many students get retained at Codington and it seems that from that their overall attitude toward school has changed. Almost as though their spirit has been broken. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE! I'm sure there will be plenty of people to come to the rescue of this school, but this is my personal experience and my observations.
