Big store that's mostly antiques, but some really worthwhile interiors type merchandise... It's really classy. The outside belies what's inside. This place has it all: antiques, quality handcrafted repros, art, plus it opens to a garden hardscapes and architectural salvage next door--same owners. It' was neat: there's a courtyard at the front and it was major cold that day--a huge fountain was covered with ice like ice sculpture. Anyway, inside it was warm to the skin and eye. Folks were friendly & helpful. The company that owns the store has three other stores in the neighborhood. We went to all four. Same quality in each one. The store's divided up into decorated stalls--very inspiring. If near Memphis, gotta check this one out. If interesed in decorating or design, it's worth a special trip to Memphis to take it in. Their website's a good representation of what's there. It's part of a collection of stores call The Palladio Group.
Palladio Antiques has got to be one of the classiest antique markets in the nation. We've been to all sorts of places in the US & England and have never seen anything like this one. Definitely upscale. Not the most expensive antiques, but definitely the best presentation ever! The store's got a bunch of decorated stalls they call "vignettes". Makes the mouth water. And speaking of watering the mouth, they've got an awesome cafe (not a tea room - a real cafe, lunch only, I think) where we ate. Then we went to their other three stores all within walking distance, except it was stinking cold in Memphis that day, so we drove the block to the other stores: another antique showroom, garden & architectural salvage, and an art gallery. This is worth making a special trip to Memphis to see. While you're there, make the most of it & stay at The Peabody hotel about five miles west, downtown. Great city to visit.
The store has over a dozen floor to ceiling display cases with estate silver, focusing on sterling. Items where there are numerous choices include sterling serving pieces, napkin rings, bud vases, vanity dishes, serving dishes, candlesticks, trays of all sizes, goblets of all sizes, brides baskets, full sets of silver in old patterns, and sterling and silverplate tea and coffee services. There are a number of items the right price for wedding or graduation presents. There is a good bit of antique furniture--tables, chairs, chests. At the back there is a beautiful lunch room, so it is fun to look before or after lunch.
