Outstanding food. They've been very consistent over the years. The only other Japanese restaurants in the city that are as good cost twice as much. This is the place to go if you don't want to pay an arm and a leg.
We enjoyed a Father's Day lunch here while on vacation. It was so good! My husband was very happy. I had the chicken sandwich and my husband had ramen. Can't wait to go back!
Great ramen !!! Limited seating, long lines, and cash only are kind of a hassle but the food makes it all worthwhile.
i literally eat here two-three times per week and order the same thing , the grilled beef bowl. it's become a joke with my roommate how much i love it. for $10.75 you get a good amount of food and it's consistently yummy. outside of bowls, they have sushi rolls, burgers, salads and soups (all asian inspired) and popular. it's really catching on in the hood. think of it as a loose japanese-influenced chipotle without the lines and extra charge for wasabi mayo.
This place sucks they always mess up my order never cook the food how I specifically tell them to and the waiters are straight up dumb!
this restaurant is so dirty, rude and horrible. i love benihana but i swear all my experiences at this location have always been a disaster!! the chef doesn't cook the food right, the sushi bar gets it wrong and does not even want to correct anything.. i hate this location and very slow service always!
Disgusting food! I don't write reviews at all, but I was so disgusted that I had to write one. I ordered a food from them chicken teriyaki. Everything was going well until I found huge cockroach skin on my food. OMG I almost threw up in my mouth!!!! Who knows how many cockroaches I ate before noticing this one. I will never order from them again and I suggest you do the same unless you don't mind eating insect instead of chicken.
Nice food and fresh. must go recommend.
I made reservation for Benihana through Open Table, which is usually very efficient. Although we arrived very punctual to the restaurant, the attendants said that we should wait 20 minutes. So what for are the reservations? When we finally got a table, that was a communal table with other people. Maybe some people like community meals. That was not our case. My family and myself wanted privacy to talk about the holiday we were having in NYC.Disgusted, we asked for the manager but the employee refused to to call him. They were very coarse. The restaurant, for us, was a fraud, starting with the lack of respect for the reservation system. We didn'y accept the table and left Benihana. In the same 56th. St. we found a great steakhouse. It was more expensive but there was not discourtesies.Be aware with Benihana. And don't be trust in the reservations system.
A great place for those who want to enjoy a delicious food. It is not cheap, but the food and service you receive are top-notch. Sake "Born" is my favorite ;) Bar sits are the best: you get your order slightly faster, you see a chef preparing your dishes, and, if there are many dishes you have never eaten before, you can observe people around you and order something you spotted on your neighbor's plate ;). If you feel tired and want to freshen-up, just ask a chef to prepare a refreshing dish for you... It is that simple. If you do not clearly remember the proper chopsticks etiquette, make sure you google it before visiting the restaurant. (Just imagine yourself going to Arpège and not knowing which one of the three forks to choose to eat your favorite Savarins).P.S.: IMPORTANT! This is one of only two Sushi restaurants in NYC where I eat raw fish without worrying about catching parasites or having an upset stomach.
