Not a bad place. I was born in Taiwan in 1957. For those of you who don ot know, Taiwan is an island off the west coast of China. This is the place where China send the undesirable peoples and decedent to when the communist took over. Anyway, I spent my first 6 years of life in Taiwan and had plenty of opportunities to enjoy the flavors of the country. I remembered when I was a young boy, my mother, uncle and grand parents would take my sister and I on trips. We would occasionally stop to have lunch or dinner at various markets. I remember the sights, sounds, smell and taste of the markets. Sometime later, my mother met an American, got married and moved to the United State with my sister and I in tow. As I grew up and did my own travels though the United States, I started to realized that I was not getting the sights, sounds, smell and taste of Chinese markets. Even in places called whatever China Buffet, it was not there. Not even the smell or taste. :( I started to realized that everything was Americanized because the Caucasian folks didn't think Chinese food tasted good or tasted right. So, I have been living with Americanized Chinese food for the last 40 or so years. It became the same old thing that looked like but was not Chinese food. Then, guess what! This place opened up. I was slow to go in at first figured it would just be another Americanized Chinese restaurant. When I finally went in the first time I notice something strange. The noodle was not the usual taste I had came to recognized. It sent me back to a smell and taste I had long forgotten. Something from my childhood. It was a taste of home, where I grew up. It had a smell I had not smelt since my childhood. I sampled other dishes and realized they are cooking authentic un-Americanized China dishes. Wow. As I talked to the manager and cook, they tell me whatever I want they will make for me. So one day I desided to put them to the test. I asked them to stock some Kimchee, get some thousand year eggs (not really a thousand years. But eggs seasoned in green tea) and make me some dim sum and .... they did. When I was done with that meal, I went to the cook and the manager and in the little bit of Chinese I remembered, thanked them for giving me back a taste of my youth. I now go back to W China Buffet every chance I can and I highly recommend that anyone who wants a taste of real China to go there. This is not the Americanized version, but the real taste of China. Again, thank you W & W!

From Business: At New China Buffet & Grill, you'll enjoy not only the best in Chinese food, but also American dishes that include grilled steak, roast chicken, pizza, and more. …
I have eaten at this buffet now twice. My hubby took me there last week for the first time and I loved it so much we went back again for lunch yesterday. Prices are great. Weekends its about 10 bucks for all you can eat with all you can drink. Through the week its 8 bucks all you can eat and all you can drink. They have a wide range of food and its not just limited to chinese. They also have some mini pizzas, french fried, fried mozzarella sticks, chicken strips, etc. My kids are a bit picky and I definately got my moneys worth. Their facility is very clean and so are the restrooms. Very family like or for a romantic date, or even a place to eat with your friends. I highly reccommend trying them out. They just became my new favorite place to eat. Yummmmmmmmy.
I think their food was excellent. This was my first time here and I went with my hubby, daughter, and her boyfriend and we enjoyed the food very much. The staff was super friendly and they consistantly checked our drinks. Very fresh food and OMG alot of food to choose from. Prices are very reasonable. For all four of us we only paid $34.00 total. That is only $8.50 a piece. You can't beat that price for an all-u-can eat with your drink. My friend reccommended this place and I highly reccommend it. They just got some repeat customers.
This place did not deliver all of our food also, one person did not get to eat because she was on the phone for 20 min trying to get them to deliver the rest of our food. Now it is over two hours later and we still do not have the missing food. The lady that answers the phone is very rude and has no desire to help customers. She treats customers like a burden instead of a customer.
This place just opened and my family went to check it out. most Chinese restaurant in this town are very similar with few surprises. this place has a unique taste but is still familiar. I would describe it as a cross between Thai and Chinese. I am very excited to see dim sum items on the regular menu because that is really rare in Dsm
YES THEY ARE USUALLY RUDE I HAVE HUNG UP ON THEM MORE THAN A FEW TIMES AND JUST WENT DOWN THE STREET TO EAT. This time the lady was actually nice and understanding. I have always liked there food. So maybe someone is acuallly reading these that own it? Only thing please tell me how long til my food arrives lol.
My family and I order from this restaurant an an almost weekly basis. The food is great, the service we receive is always top notch and they have always delivered within their stated time frame. Not to mention they have a huge delivery range so they'll be able to serve you pretty much anywhere in Des Moines.
As far as takeout chinese goes, China Chef is very good. Their delivery is usually well under the 45 minutes they quote you on the phone, and the drivers are courteous and careful with your food. I have always been happy with the quality of their service and i tip heavily. I recommend others do the same. :)
The Pot stickers are good, but that's about it. The egg drop soup was really weird. It wasn't runny, but kind of gelatinous. The sesame beef wasn't very good either. I had it delivered and there was too much sauce, I mean, the beef was drowning in it.
Didn't want to believe the reviews because the food is so good n usually fast but the lady that answers the phone is horrible... Hung up immediately when I mentioned I didn't have card on hand... !!! Thai flavors it is tonight.
