Lizard Motorsports

Well let's just start from the beginning so I can be as thorough as possible. I have a 64 13 window VW bus. Took it to Grumpys Metal aka VW Sunroofs to get the 21 window conversion completed. Mind you this is a restored bus with a custom paint job etc and was in Hot VWs magazine. So Grumpys did their part and completed the conversion. Was told that Lizard may be a good guy to visit and check out. So after having an initial conversation, seemed like he would take care of the body work and paint on just the roof portion. So time came to drop it off at his shop. Looked it over and said no problem, we will take care of it and said it should be about 1-2 weeks to complete. Well 3 1/2 months later and about few dozen excuses she is still not done. Everything from my body is a a meth addict and he took the money Lizard paid him and no where to be seen. So he told me on numerous occasions yes it's painted we just need to color sand it and buff it. So when I said I would be coming down, his story is it's next door in the booth drying and locked up. Then he said there is a big bubble in the paint and we need to take all the paint off and re shoot it. It was always something. Bottom line all lies and never even painted. So finally I said this is BS and I'm coming to get my bus tomorrow. Then he said just give him a few more days and he promises it will be right. So I figured I waited this long, what's a few more days. Well, when I come to inspect it it looks as if it was painted outside. Dirt all over the clear, parts were not even painted in certain areas, missing clear in certain areas etc. Basically now I'm fuming and his answer is well it's better than when it came in.. Really?? Just beyond unprofessional. So I had no choice but to pay for it in the tune of $3500. So week after getting it back, he refused to fix it and we had a phone conversation with his painter in which is saying there's nothing wrong with what I did and I will not do anything else for you. Told him that's fine, I will take it to a reputable shop to get repaired. So I initiated a chargeback on my credit card and took it to Modern Auto Body to have it inspected and repaired. The paint was not even adhering to the primer. It is by far the worst, improper paint job I have ever seen. I would have been better off rattle canning it. So when approached to Lizard (Richard owner) he simply thinks its funny now. I saved his texts for everyone to see, saying haha I'm not mad, I got my money. You lost. Hahahahaha. This is coming from a business owner mind you. I'm glad I saved all his texts and will gladly show everyone just what type of person you would be dealing with here. He will feed you full of lies and false hope, DO NOT TRUST THIS GUY!!! I will gladly spread the word to the entire VW community. It's supposed to be a family of VW enthusiasts helping each other out not laughing at a customer after they screw them over. Shop is beyond unorganized, extremely messy and dirty. I should have known right there to stay away and go with my gut instinct. If anyone wants to know my experience first hand just email me and will be glad to explain in great detail about my personal experience. Do NOT want anyone to ever go through what I did with this place.... I have attached pics to see what his paint did just after 1 week after curing. Completely peeling off the primer. And he laughed when I showed him pics.

I took my 67 Deluxe bus to Lizard Mortorsports, I figured that a tune up is pretty basic. After i picked up my bus and drove it home, i was pretty happy with the way it ran. when out of the corner of my eye i noticed a scratch on my clock that was never there before. (all of my gauges were professionally restored 4 months prior) After realizing that it is NOT the same CLOCK or GAS GAUGE......from the time that i took my bus to Lizards and brought it home. My 12 VOLT clock and 12 volt gas gauge were swapped out. They even went as far as installing voltage drops to make the gauges work.. These were the original 12 volt gauges to the bus and are very costly to replace. I have my receipts that show that i had them restored 4 months prior at a different location. After calling the owner he told me "He didn't do it" and was really short with me.. I don't think that he realized that he was responsible, since he was the owner. He is a bad business owner and he should have taken a little more time to figure out what happened.. who ever did this had extra gauges, and knowledge to rewire them, and some time, HMMMMM i wonder?????
