We have two Dogs (over 7 yrs of age) going here for the past 5 years. We are Very Impressed with all the Doctors and the staff. Our dogs had their teeth cleaned here and were put to sleep for the cleaning (the teeth came out great). One dog has had eye surgery to get a small tumor out. Prices are very good. We boarded our dogs here for a few days also and it was a good boarding visit.

I have been bringing my dogs to Kay Animal Hospital for several years, and we absolutely love it. We unfortunately had to put one of our dogs down, but the staff was extremely supportive and compassionate. We bring our other dog there for everything; from checkups to surgeries. Every single time I go there, I am overly impressed- they are the best! We would definitely recommend them as we trust them with a member of our family!
I do not have children, my 4 dogs are my kids! I have trusted Kay Animal Hospital since I moved to Georgia in 1999. The first time I walked into the clinic I felt like I was at home and my babies did, too. Over the last 13 yrs my pets have been treated for parvoe, one got hit by a car, and one (Cocker Spaniel) was attacked by a vicious pit bull. My babies have made it through this and more. I believe that God works through Kay Animal Hospital. The Kay family are amazing people! They are #1 in my book! They give animals the care, love and treatment that they need at an affordable price! I love this Vet and they are a big part of our extended family! Thank you Kay!

I have been going to this vet for many years and have mostly dealt with the son, Michael Kay. Unfortunately when my dog became ill, Michael Kay was in Europe, so I had to have the father, James Kay take care of my dog. She was very sick and had to have surgery. A simple surgery turned into a second surgery because something was missed. I was told the second surgery would have another doctor assist. I was assured she would be fine and sent home and told not to come back for 10 days. After a long weekend of the dog being in pain and discomfort, which I was not given meds, because I was told it was not needed. Come Monday morning, the dog had yet more complications. You'd think 2 surgeons could do a surgery correctly. I was told more tests were needed and I'd get a phone call shortly to be assessed of the situation. After 2 phone calls and 5 hours later, I was told a third surgery was performed....WITHOUT my knowledge I might add and also WITHOUT a follow up phone call!! At this point I was in contact with a different doctor ready to have another opinion, I was NOT intending on confirming to a third surgery, but since I was never informed, I did not have the choice!! I was told to pick her up later that day and to bring her in the following morning for a follow up. Instead of bringing me into a private room to go over post op instructions or to bring me my dog, instead, the dog was brought to me in the lobby and that was it!! No further discussions with Dr. James Kay! I took my dog to another vet the following morning and things were not good at all. It has been a downward spiral since. She is very sick and is now in need of a 4th surgery in less than 2 weeks time because of internal bleeding. How can 3 surgeries be done so poorly? This is a very small dog I might add and I'm not sure she will make it. I will NEVER bring another living animal to this hospital. I hope and pray anyone reading this review will also avoid this vet at any cost, possibly at the cost of your animals life!!
The reason why I gave this review one star is because you have to give it a rating in order to publish your review, if it were up to me, I'd give this a negative star rating!!
This is by far a great animal hospital. The staff is fantastic, caring and knowledgable and Dr. Michael Kay and Dr. Kinney were both great at getting to the bottom of my very sick kitty. She almost died and Kay Animal was able to save her life!!!!!!!! The have a client for life with me!! If you don't believe me, go see for yourself!

My daughters collect animals. We have had to take our animals to Kay Animal Hospital for car accidents, poisoning, dog/cat bites, mega esophogus, hip dysplasia and routine check ups. They do not nickel and dime you to death, are very caring and willing to go the extra mile to help solve problems and have, on a few occasions, kept our animals to observe them for conditions they were not sure about. We rescue strays and try to give them a good environment but sometimes injuries and illness happens and Dr. Michael Kay, Dr. Jim Kay and Dr. Kinney have been fantastic along with their staff. Thank you for all you do! You have our support and gratitude.

Please do not take your animals to Dr. Michael Kay, the son of the Dr. Jim Kay is absolutely the most apathetic person I've ever seen after spending over $800 on tests and giving no complete answers he sent our extremely sick dog home with little to no explanation. We actually found out that he didn't even give one of the meds that we paid for and he charged twice for x rays that we never saw nor got any indication that he even did them. Our poor little boy took meds with us calling back over and over to the vet for help understanding what we were going to do, with so many unanswered calls and when we would show up he would only give us another med to try, he had NO IDEA what was causing the problem. We had to take our little boy to another vet and he had to be put to sleep, I know I'm angry for losing him and I'm sure that's a great excuse for Dr. Kay to use if anyone reads this. TRUST ME, he gave my husband and I some crap about previous employees he had to fire for stealing from his dad that were writing bad reviews online.. Now, I don't believe it. Whether my advice is taken or not, please keep this post in mind. I am completely devasted at my loss and I really hope that I can help someone make a decision not to let this happen to them. If I can save one animal from this same treatment it will be worth it. If Michael Kay had really tried to diagnose him and not talk around every problem maybe he would still be with us. I wish I had never stepped foot in that building, I wish I had never taken my little boy to that place, but it's too late for us now. Please don't let your baby be the next!!!
I am just about to leave Georgia for an out-of-state move, after living here for only a few months, and I sure wish I could take the Kay Animal Hospital and all of its staff with me. You cannot go wrong taking your beloved four-footed family members here for veterinary care.
My dog, an English bull terrier who has a tendency to develop unusual ailments, is 9 years old. During the course of her life to-date, she has had 5 veterinarians, two of which are well recognized in NYC as being excellent, but never has she received the kind of care and on-target treatment she has received at the Kay Animal Hospital.
ALL of the staff are wonderful, friendly and very helpful. I always felt like my dog was treated as a VIP and getting the best of care. And one of my favorite things is that when one of her unusual ailments caused puzzlement, I didn't find myself being bullied into expensive testing or rushed to use drugs; the veterinary staff are willing to research and provide sound answers. There has never been a rush to gouge my bank account as I have experienced everywhere else I have been in that way that I hate which implies if I truly loved my dog, I would hand over my bank account. There is a consciousness of economy and the client's budget, without ever a compromise in delivery of excellent treatment...I really appreciate this and have found pretty rare in the 30+ years I have been keeping cats and dogs. On the subject of cost, I have found the prices for services rendered at Kay Animal Hospital to be very reasonable, too.
One aspect of the hospital that I have found interesting and been very happy with is that they have a walk-in/no appointment policy. This made me a little nervous at first, but the fact of the matter is that my wait-time on every visit has been shorter...in fact, virtually non-existant...without exception, than any of the wait-times I have experienced with appointments at other vets.
Finally, my dog has never, ever been happy about going to the vet. Once she realizes she is there, she'll start shaking and panting uncontrollably. She still hates going to the vet and tries to plant herself and refuse to go to the door, however, in the short time she's been going to the Kay Animal Hospital, her shaking and panting have noticeably decreased, much to my surprise. I consider this a testament to the genuine kindness and gentleness of everyone she comes into contact with there.
Piglet and I will miss our friends at Kay Animal Hospital dearly!
I would agree with this review several years ago. I grew up with Kay being our family vet. When I became an adult I too used them. I agree he and his staff were indeed the best. Dee was awesome. In the last five years, things have changed. you never know who will be seeing your animal. The last four times I have been in to see the Vet, it has been four different Doctors. The last had never met me, knew nothing about my elderly dogs incontinence and assumed I was a neglectful owner. She treated my dog rough and was absolutely hateful to me. I don't think I would have gotten the same treatment from Kay, but he is allowing this to ruin his business. The office staff is strictly business. No more of the warmth Dee provided. After three so-so vets and one completely unacceptable vet, we have since left his practice.
i am dr. kay and i would like more specific details on my staff before you put this on the review for everyone to see. anyone can lie and i feel my staff is as good as anyone in ga.. what if this was a employee who was fired and had a grudge to gring.
Well today I used kay and his great staff again.I have a seven month old lab her name is sophia.Kay and his staff are the best people every and would do anythings to help anyone.I would vote them as the best vet in the area.I tell everyone i know to take there animals there.Thank you once again to everyone at kay's.I really feel like there like family.Because they take very good care of my two dogs and makes our lives complete at home. When it's time to go see kay there ready to go bye bye. They ready to go see jesse the dog that walks around making sure everything and every animal is okay he is like a support dog.And very cute.
